BIG W&B
So I went home for the holidays, and I have been dreaming about all those lovely little rural junktique shops for months. I talked to my brother about it, him being the gun/knife/hunting goods collector that he is, and he said he know plenty of places to get me near some razors--rural Kansas and all that! Well, he took me out and the first place, the FIRST PLACE, the guy had three razors. One was a frowning, rehandled Henckels, the second was...this monster:

As soon as he brought it out, I thought "I'm buying that one." He hemmed and hawed, but finally let it go and it wasn't until I got it home that I realized just how HUGE it really is. It measures 2.7cm at its widest point, and 2.6 at its narrowest...the condition isn't bad, either, for an oldy like this.
Oh, and the third razor? A PRISTINE Winchester...he refused to sell it, being a gun collector himself. That one made my heart raze a wee bit.
Of course, this was the only luck I had all day, but it was worth it, I reckon.

That is a monster! If that's the only luck you had, that's not bad at all!

Congrats on the great find Jim! I've always been fan of barber notches.
-
WOW THIS IS GREAT ONE. Congratulations.
Send to me i will sharpen and i promise you will never seen it again.

Congrats on a great find! Antique and other local shops can be hit and miss. After all that anticipation I am glad you were able to score a beauty. A little cleaning and some metal polish and it will be ready for service. You can always go further in the future. Enjoy your score!
Aren't local finds just GREAT!! :y

Sweet. You have got to love those blades.
-
I've got 2 of them just like that one, great shavers! Everybody should have at least one.
-
Very nice find, I can't wait to find one that doesn't have a big chip out of the blade. I've discovered some antique shops rurally here in Missouri, and I'll be hitting a couple more of them this week. Any requests if I come across something?
-
Great good luck! I have been trying to get one of those choppers for a long time at a reasonable price, without success. The blade looks in fine condition and good for a few hundred more years.

Nice score Jim! I have one like that, but it has no etchind on the blade.:tu
