I haven't done anything to mine to protect the labels, i just don't use too much water and keep them over a towel when i hone.
Seems to be working so far.
And yes, we don't do appraisals here. It's a nice rock.
How come I never find Eschers in these markets!? Not fair!
You're very lucky, very nice hone.
I've never found any hones in any antique stores around here. Maybe Sham gets them all. Congrats on the Escher it's real purty. :)
Congratulations, from somebody who also has found a similar labelled Escher at an antique store, although yours looks to be the highly sought yellow green and mine is blue gray. My label came off while lapping the stone, so I just dried it out and saved it in an envelope. You are going to be amazed at the difference when you hone your first razor on it and shave. It will be sharper and smoother than the edge from most other hones, and will give you excellent feedback on your sharpening progress. I no longer bother to use slurry, since I set the bevel on other stones first. It is simply the best finisher I have ever owned, including several coticules.
I drove about 40 miles yesterday just to do a little antiquing. Found
Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!
But the weather was fabulous.
i don't know what type book you have but this stone in my book will be
PRICELESS
Congratulations and have fun
