Three razors and a Fish.

Well I had a good weekend at the antique stores. The first one is the one I was really exited about. I'm pretty new to this but I've heard (Read) really good things about Henckles and just particularly like them. I plan on rescaling it eventually but am in no hurry on this one. The Second one I know very little about except solingen is usually a pretty safe bet from what I know and it looked pretty nice to me. Also plan on rescale eventually. The third is barley discernible as a Wade and butcher and I only hope it can be saved. But it was very cheep so maybe it will be just practice. And the fish is a necklace charm for a mothers day present for my lovely wife. She works at a land scape company taking care of the pond fish. And loves them so I was sure I'd hit the jack pot on this one. She loves it BTW.
I haven't read all the rules about posts so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to tell prices but if some one confirms I can I'll post prices.

That's a very nice Henckles, and looks to be in great shape too.

I like the fish...how does it shave?

JMS It shaves excellent once you figure out how to use it.
At least thats what I was told by the seller, And you know if the seller tells you something they must be right.

That Henckels is nice gratz..

I really like that Henckels, thats a great looking razor! Nice find!

Thanks guys I can't believe what I payed for the Henckles. I will be saving that one for when I am comfortable with honing stropping and shaving.

In the mean time I read that it's good to put a light coating of Vaseline on the blade for storage. Is this good or should I use something different?

Any one know any thing about the Kronenberg Elite.
And also wether or not it is ok to post what you payed or not?

Here is my progress so far on the W&B I cleaned up the Blade and set a bevel now I just have to decide what to do with the toe since it had that chunk missing and weather to leave it rustic in the original scales (witch I'm leaving alone until I decide) or go all High polished and custom scales on it. Don't worry I 'm not changing the tang on this one.
The scales are a two piece with no wedge and it stays open. It looks like it might be real tortes shell but have no idea how to tell or if they ever actually put the real stuff on them. Any ideas on that. I looked in the wiki but couldn't find anything.

Its not tortoise. Its mottled horn ( horn stained to look like tortoise shell )

Very nice fines! While the scales are not the prettiest ever made I would consider keeping them where they are and rescaling razors that have broken scales and good blades. To me and lots of other people, original is more valuable that pretty.

You may also want to consider getting at least the Henckels professionally honed. Once you start down the honing path it will still take a while to get good at it and that Henckles should be enjoyed to it's fullest!

Yeah I was planing on at least leaving the Henckles till i know what I was doing.

Wow great job on the W&B cleanup. What did you use to clean out all the rust?
or if you could refer me to a forum link with the info. Would be great!

Just used some sand paper gently by hand and a flap wheel on a wood lathe running slow to round off the toe where the chunk was missing. After honing it up a bit I have actually shaved with it a few times and am leaving it rustic.
