Shaving gear case
My wife has been upset that I'm taking over more and more of the medicine cabinet so I've been looking for something to put all my shaving gear into.
I was recently out camping in the sticks near Pittsburgh and came across this old box at a yard sale. The previous owner stored potatoes and onions in it. I asked its age and he said he didn't know but it's been in his house for "as long as he can remember." Unfortunately I did not take any "before" pictures but it was a quite beat up. I paid $5 for it.
I took it apart and cut it down to half of its original depth, then sanded it down to raw wood and refinished it. I replaced the plastic windows with glass as well as all the hardware.
I couldn't decide the best way to hang the razors so for now there is a temporary shelf and pipe rack holding my blades. I'll figure the rest out later.

looks like it's an old wooden bread box.
Nice storage unit.

Just Beautiful
Been browsing for some ideas in my own den.
I think I'm going to keep an eye out for the same style you've got.
The 2 windows are my favorite aspect of your cabinet.
In fact, I like the rack you made for the razors as well.
It looks like the wood will age beautifully.
Enjoy your excellent find!

Nice find and nice work! I want to come up with some sort of glass front for my collection, too.

Not bad at all...especially considering the purchase price! Great job bringing it to a new life :beer1:
