I've made the scales for these 3 and I am in the process of finishing the 4th
The frameback scales are direct copies of the originals in ebony with a bone spacer
The second one is a 7/8 graves razor in bone with an ebony wedge
The third is a henckels 8/8 in red oak with a bone spacer
And the fourth is an IXL that is going to be dressed in dark horn with a brass spacer.
Hi Munichjoe, thanks :)
Yep, On ebay, as for most retailed raw materiel, the price is prohibitive ... Acrylic is a very common material, and should be available locally near you (crafts store, home improvement) if no success try asking your local sign maker for a hint ...
Hi Geezer, thanks again, I can confirm that, laminating acrylic involves a lot of very itchy variables that makes it difficult. What have you been doing with acrylic for so many years ?
Rather than continue to hijack this thread,
I suggest that a new thread be started! Those photos and the info are plenty enough reason and the possibility of construction details is more than enough reason for doing so.
Perhaps a new thread in the "Workshop" area would be correct. And later an addition to the Wiki would be great.
Or, if the Moderators would move this one and re-title it?? "Laminated Acrylic Scales"???

For those that make alot of scales this isa great tool IMO
