    Default Torrey coming home

This is the Torrey I got a few months ago, Ernie at Ambrose Shave | Handcrafted Barber Strops | Straight Razor Restoration | Honing Services did the scales for me. I gave him a design to go by and decided on a color and WOW check out the results. My hats off to Ernie for the outstanding job he did on this razor !!!

I like the scale design, how did you come up with that; is there something it is modeled after?

If I'd had to guess the inspiration... I'd go with flames

    Awesomely unique razor! Very impressive.

Do the scales present any problem when shaving? Just curious.

I really don't know, was just sitting around thinking about new scales for this Torrey and started drawing up pics of scales I thought I would like, and came up with this ! I had been talking to Ernie about a resto job on it, and he showed me some pics of scale material, and told me where to look on the net for some, and to send him the pic of the scales, the razor and tell him the color. Bam, this is how it turned out !

    Thanks Mark

Haven't shaved with it yet, Ambrose is gonna hone it and I should have it here by the end of the week or sometime next week, I don't see the scales posing any problem though.

    Thanks Mark

Gorgeous scales! And the Torrey blades were high quality steel. Nice polish job on the blade too. Please let us know how it shaved, thanks.

are the scales laminated abalone, or a immitation abalone? either way they are very attractive.
