Oh yah....that's the ticket. Can't wait to see picks of it when it's all done.
Nice blade man.....
My Word! Look at the tang and tail! Made for leverage, I suspect! Nice work and good going sending it to Glen!
Can't wait to see the outcome!
Holy crap! Thats a beast
Weird! I like it :-)
I love it! I bet blond horn would look great.
That is a great looking blade. Can't wait to see what kind of rabbit Glen pulls out of his hat for this one.

That thing needs its own postcode. :)
NICE !!!
Ah! A real razor at last, and not once of those whimpy 7/8ths! :) Nice blade brother.
Mick
Interesting blade, should be a nice heirloom for you.
Thats a cracker!
Looking forward to seeing it dressed up:)
Saw that posted- thought the story on it was interesting. Should be a really interesting restoration. Definitely hoping either you or Glen will post some pics.
Thats a real big one, i like te see him whit nice scales. for so far i like him already.
Thanks for all the positive feedback.
I'm pretty excited to see what it looks like when shes all dressed up too :)
Well, what the heck,
One can always use it to flip pancakes, when you are rushed in the morning.
Good thing it's not a round point are you would never be able to shave your
upper lip.
It's a great find, and it should be interesting what sort of restore is in it's
for.
that is a biggun.... i wish they would use normal measurements..... 19/16ths=1"3/16.....
wish i would have seen that first.... you would have had a bidding war.... lol....
Oh my goodness...I am soooooooo jealous right now! That is a beautiful piece of razor right there. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
HOLY MOLEY!! That's one beautiful, man sized blade. I'm subscribing to this thread in the sincere hope that Glen will post pictures of it after it has been scaled.
Many congratulations.
Jimbo
Sir, I am sorry to inform you, but that is a plow :w
However, after some four generations of shaving and honing, it might actually become some dandy 6/8" :)
Joking aside, ya got yerself quite a nice cleaver. Please do post pictures when it is done! And bring the oxes too, bwaaahahaha!
Regards,
Adrian
Not sure if Glen (gssixgun) will start a thread with this, as he does with a lot of his restos.
Ill drop a couple of pics here for now. Shes all done and on her way home.
I am hoping to get her Monday and have a nice wicked shave !
Whoa, a broadsword? :p
Ah, now that I see the 'After' shot, allow me to congratulate you on your new blade. She's, uh, sizeable. My 8/8 feels lacking now.
Details, We had talked about a few ways to approach this, in fact I actually worked up a tang in Ivory Micarta for this but I would have had to grind the old Tang to a just a small stub to fit it to the the new one.. Cary decided he wanted to keep the Makers Mark and we shifted gears to making a custom set of scales to fit all the idiosyncrasies of the razor..
I had to draw up a custom set because of the shortness of the tang and the size of the blade would not allow for the deep heel on any normal curves.. I also liked that Cary decided on the G-10 as I wanted the strength of that material since I would be drilling the pivot hole close to the end of the scales from the placement of the new pivot hole..
We used the Green G-10 for the scales and a Jade Green acrylic wedge, I ended up using Brass pins and triple stacked washers, the build came out super strong and honing and stropping were much easier than I had first anticipated with a shortened tang...
More pics to show the wedge

That is an amazing piece of work. That thing just looks massive. Good call on the scales, they came out great. The Jade wedge sets 'em off perfectly.
The Blade of Doom-I like it!
Oh wow! That looks like fun. I can't wait to see what Glen does with the scales. Congrats man!
Bubba
Edit: just saw the finished razor. Who needs a little blue pull after seeing that baby. Congrats!!

Great work Glen; nothing less expected.
Kudos to you Earthdawn for sending it out to the Pro's for a restore. A beautiful old blade brought back to life, to shave again.
I think that was left over from the days when Nephilim walk the Earth before the flood. Its way to big for a human face. Dang! Sure turned out pretty though.
Ray
double post... sorry
Well she arrived back the same time as my Bismark did from Lynn.. Figures I would get a new beast and a re-honing back the damn day !
But I am certainly not complaining.
Took a quick photo to show the size between the JR and Dovo. The photo does zero justice and I dont think there is one that could. Until you hold that JR with its thick & massive size you just dont get it. I mean this thing is hefty! The G10 feels really really strong. Theres no doubt it has strength in the build. This kind of blade shows just how good Glen is. This was not an easy and issue free blade at all. The bade was huge, the pivot hole was in an odd spot to try and balance it & its a stub tail, ohhhh and HEAVY.
Ill have it in the SOTD tonight :)

"I hereby dub thee............the Hunchback of Sheffield"
Wow what an impressive razor.
Glen this must be the restoration of the year (ResOTY) winner. HEAVY blade, awkward pivot hole placement AND wierd downward tail.
Fantastic work and truely unique!!
So......what are the chances of a 7 day set? :rofl2:
Is that for shaving or human sacrifice?!?
That's a real edge, nice catch.
boy o boy..if that doesnt give you a one pass shave after waiting a week..I dunno what will..cool man!
