New razors for me and my brother.

Over the past few months I've managed to get my older brother interested in straight razors and a couple weeks ago I got a text from him asking if I could help him with finding a good first razor, I proposed that he could come visit sometime so we could discuss what type of razor he was looking for, what my budget was and I also went over all the basic techniques of stropping, lathering and shaving, a few dos and don'ts and we ended with me doing a quick demonstration shave before I let him try doing his sideburns with one of my razors.
I also gave him my "DR Harris aftershave milk" since I rarely used it anyways.

I got him a C.V Heljestrand MK30 for a very resonable price 360 SEK(about 52$) and when I was at it, I bought myself a Klas Törnblom for even less, 260SEK(38$).
The Törnblom shaves very nicely but the scales are pretty boring black plastic and they are also too fat for my liking so I've ordered a horn slab to redress it in.

The Heljestrand is in very nice conditon with white (ivory?) scales but I'll have to hone it and have a few test shaves with it before I send it away

Nice score. Yes that is ivory indeed, a lot of the MK's seem to be scaled in it. Most 20th century Swedish blades came in boring plastic (mainly black) scales though. I personally don't mind, I have a MK31 with black plastic scales that are markefd 'M***K' on the inside. Swedish razors in general are not overly decorative and mainly sober looking shavers. I like that.

Those are two very fine razors you have found. One of the MK series is at the top of my list to find. Like Pithor, I don't mind plain business like razors.

I love Heljestrands but i've never had an Eskilstuna made razor, by any maker, that wasn't a great shaver. They had the steel and they knew how to forge and temper it to make outstanding shavers.

I like simple razors too, there's no need to make them more complicated than necessary.
I was 90% sure that it was Ivory but since I haven't handled it before I couldn't know for sure, thanks for the confirmation.

I have a "no 24" that has given me some honing truble but other than that, Eskiltuna razors'(especially Heljestrands) are very good shavers in my experience.
