Recent Acquisitions

Figured I'd put all my recent finds in one thread. Here goes:

Two stubtails, a Clark and Hall Cast Steel and an older Marsden Acier Fondu. Interestingly, both have been modernized at some point with hollow grinds and thumb cutouts. The Clark and Hall has pressed horn scales with brass pin work.

Next is a Greaves and Sons brass frameback, very similar to another frameback I have. This is one of my new favorites.

Here's a Joseph Elliot with a large wedge-end piece, I think of lead.

Last up is a pair of I'm assuming 1830s Packwoods. I'm pretty sure these have been restored / buffed, but they still look pretty nice.

I've got some restoration and honing work to keep me busy for a while now...

Sorry to bring this thread back from a while ago, but I just found this: early 1800's straight razor.no issues. Will make a great shaver INternat. VIDEO | eBay

It is definitely an older one, but has the same things done that the Marsden and Clark and Hall had, with the hollow grind and the metal removed to give it a shoulder. Has anyone else seen this done to other razors of that age?

What a wonderful bunch. Hey -- some razors get buffed. They look terrific. Color me envious.

I don't know if that is common now or not. I wish people would respect the antiquity of those old stub tails and leave them as is. Nice bunch you have there in spite of the alterations IMHO.

Framebacks aren't usually my thing but that Greaves is straight awesome.

That Greaves has my attention! Is it folded Brass or a machined casting? ~Richard
