A birthday present...
... to myself.
I have sworn off any new shaving purchases for a while. But when I saw this I had to ask the seller if she would make a deal. Well she did, and I thought it was fair, given that it was probably older than my country.
Mid 1700's, tortoise shell, fancy pins, and French. Think Dangerous Liaisons, and I can imagine the Vicomte de Valmont being shaved with this by his valet.
Anyway, here it is. I kind of like it.

A birthday present...
Now that's cool! The condition is amazing. Great buy ;)

Those are amazing scales. Congrats!
-
incredible something that old has survived in such good condition, nice score.

The scales have a few Knicks and chips along the edge, but overall it looks great. I have not honed it yet, as most of my rocks are in storage at the moment, but I'm curious to see how it performs. Holding it might be tricky. No tail, and the tang tapers down to a fairly sharp angle on the bottom.

A very cool blade indeed!

I have no idea how much you have paid for it, but I bet it is worth every penny!
BTW My birthday is coming up! Thanks

The scales, the pins, the tang stamp and the 1700s ..... how could you have resisted. Great she gave you a deal. Happy Birthday BTW !
