Thats cool ! Is that what the Norwegian slate does to a razor?

That's correct Tom, the one I have is an Ellicottville. I was first thinking of just straighten the scales it came in, but when I saw this one I figured why not make a replacment set like the German one, they look way better.
I believe the common red brick hone have been used on this one :p
Pics will come in the workshop gallery when it's done :)
Let's see the blade! Those are awesome!
I only have the eBay pic avaliable at the moment, I've edited it to be able to see the condition of the blade before I bid, the original pic was so dark parts of the blade wasn't visible.
I noticed there is stamped "Second" on the tail, anyone know what this means?

Rune, the stamped "second" on the tail means that this was a reject at the factory and is inherently unsafe. Such razors are prone to inflict severe cuts when used for shaving. Once you've redressed this razor, you should send it to me to ensure it is properly disposed of.
Interesting! Perhaps it was a "second"? Mabe some small defect in the stampings. The ones I have seen have USA out there. No matter, that probably makes it rare! Those are sooooo thin. Man, you should reblue the tang and length of the spine too!
They pop and crackle on the strop and shave like non other. 6/8?
That's what struck my mind as well, the only "defect" I have found is that a little bit of the blackening on the tang, just by the balde on the front side, is missing. It doesn't look like it was worn out, the razor seems to never have touched a hone outside the factory and is perfect in every other way.
Size depends on how you measure, it's slightly over 13/16 from top of the spine to the edge, but I don't think 16's of an inch was a measuring norm back in the days, it was probably made as 6/8
Sweet! Rune, that is perhaps the best quality from America. I had one and sold it to a friend. Treat it right! Cannot wait to see the results.
Just put it "second" in your rotation!
