junk or worth keeping?
I'd use it. Then again most of mine don't look that good. Tape it, and hone it, and mark it with a ... Or was that a cake or something???

The scales look decent and if you can put an edge on it, why not?
Worst case, bring it to life and keep it around for friends that express an interest in getting started with straights. If it has a good edge, it need not be pretty for a newby to discover if the answer is "love" or "hate" before investing seriously.

You know what? This just occurred to me, this is the perfect razor to 'sharpen' my honing skills!
This thing is so dull, if i can bring this edge up to shave, then my confidence in honing will be greater.
Thanks guys, im gonna hone this guy soon!

Before trying to hone it, look at the frameback metal wrapped around spine and see if it round or squashed. I got one that looked fine on ebay, but once I got it, I couldn't hone it. I'd have to get someone to remake the cylinder of metal and replace the old one. Not worth it.

May be too late, The Dahlgren's are good shavers. If the spine is really badly worn, then tape it to hone. The Swedes' will take a very fine angle of bevel and the steel will hold an edge. The bone scales are worth saving!Try honing it after a good Barbasol or hydrosoling to assure the death of bugs and mold. Then see how it shaves.
I surely would try my best to bring it back, then un-pin and clean it and then re-hone it.
Those do often bring a good price on the bay. Oh yes, I do like framebacks!

It's a good razor to practice honing and another vote for saving the scales.
