Habeeb & Joseph, Sheffield
Anybody know anything about this manufacturer? I used the search and only come up with two mentions and no real info.
Anyway, got this on ebay cheap. I grabbed it because I liked the shoulderless look of it. That and it had no rust at all. Also, no other bidders. :)
Scales are bone, badly discolored, but not as bad as an hour ago as I've been working on them with simple green and pressurized steam. Outside of the chip and the funky color, they're solid and it closest centered, if a bit loose.
It's obviously been chipped at the point and smoothed out at some point, I'd guess with a stone, because the shape isn't smooth and uniform like it will be after I change the grind here in a minute.
I do think the point is interesting in the way that it's been ground though. I'm going to keep that shape and just refine it a bit.

Ok, refined and smoothed the chip area of the point to make it more uniform and less obviously chipped.
Should be a bit easier to hone it toward a slight smile now too.
Polished the scales as well. I'll probably keep them for the time being and then send it to someone for new bone scales after a while.
Not really soon though. I've got a nice Geneva pyramid out to Glen being rescsaled right now already.

Not much of a change, but more pleasant to look at overall. It just bugged me a little as it was.
Easy to do with the tools I have available here at work.

Looks good. How does it shave?

Don't know yet. I'll probably skip the polishing it like new until such time as I unpin it to rescale it. I'll hone it up this weekend and let you know.

Yeah I've seen that one. It's rather nicer than mine. :-)

Well then I'm going to assume that the info isn't there to be found and stop wondering about it. Thanks a lot!
Did you ever shave with it? I haven't got this one honed up yet and I'm wondering how good a shaver it'll make.
Re: Habeeb & Joseph, Sheffield
Good! Glad to hear it! I'm working on getting a slight frown out of this one right now and hopefully will have it ready to shave with tomorrow or Sunday.

All honed up and ready to go!
I ended up using three layers of tape to get a smaller more even bevel. Managed to cut my thumb pretty good while using my swaty. I got distracted by somebody calling my name, looked over and slid the toe right across my left thumb. Brilliant!
Going to go give it a test shave soon as the towels get finished drying!

Nice and close smooth shave. Not absolutely top tier but a close second. Smooth and holds a nice edge!
