Fast forward a few months and I returned for a haircut and he asked if I was still after any razors. "You Bet!" was the answer. 22 vintage straight razors, some have been "rode hard and put away wet", some look almost unused, most are very pitted (little rust at all).
Some will go away to pros for resto, I may try my hand at bringing least valuable examples back to life myself as a learning experience.
All in all, not bad for just asking... "Got any old razors kicking around?"
