I've never seen one exactly like that. Probably not a modified point, though. I'd guess original.
It reminds me of the small top notch on this Revitt & Hull:

Both of those razors are in the general vicinity of 1840, I'd guess yours is too.
Lot of guys think a barber's notch is for ease of opening the razor. I've never agreed with that, thinking it is to better reach around the nostrils for mustachioed men , like myself. These razors in this thread look like the purpose of the point is to make it more convenient to open the razor. Just speculating, I can't see any other reason for it. :chapeau

very pretty. I liking the point very much.
That point might have come in handy before the invention of the "pull tab" .
