How far I have come in just a few months.

Hi guys

In my first ever post on here in the introductions section, I stated I have always had interest in the straight razor/cut throat world, and very much into antiques and vintage thing, as well as living in a slightly older fashioned world. So after years of umms and ahhs finally dove in. Being and experienced model maker and hobbiest word worker I was reasonably set up to do some restores, even though I need to learn lots more of course. I started with a brand new Dovo Classic, which the scales broke with out even but opened up more then 2 times, and the replacement is cracking at its pivot pin again, but thats nor here nor there at this point in time. Here that is.



Next I got a Sperry & Alexander, looks like its may have been a square but had that rounded off. At this point I hadnt had a chance to learn how to sand it remove the marks but that will come on that some other time when I learn how to hone.


I then got a Morley & Sons, it had what I thought at the time were those charming little bamboo scales on it, which I later discovered arent that charming at all even if they where in better condition, so this will be come my first restore project and scales build

After this I got my hands on a Lowson & Haydon, Im not sure on the age but it has no origin on it so that gives me some point in time, and a member here in my other post stated he had read the name in an article in cira 1867is


Then finally for now I have found a little deal on the bay I couldnt miss for the price even on a not so well known blade, but 2 NOS blades, a Filarmonica and Empire made. The deal was good enough just for the Fil, and I cant find out much on the Empire Made one yet. At this point in time I was thinking of a shavette style would be a good next buy for a travel razor or something, but low and behold these blades arived and the Filarmonica is a shavette style, all new in its packaging still, and so is the Empire Made.




Anyway, I thought I would show where I have come so far. Big thanks to everyone who has helped, especially Havachat45 and to all the posts for with all the great info on the forums.
