I've tried several times to upload a pic with no success.
Any Ideas why SRP is failing the upload ? Not a fan of the "basic uploader"

Had to see if the way I do it works, sorry. I just copy and paste the img tag from Photobucket which seems to work.
Bob
I can only use the Basic Uploader.
Something changed about a month or two ago for me.:banghead:
PB is one way,The SRP basic Uploader works great for me.I find it effortless.
Well after I wrote the above, tried to upload and it is not working:(
One more try.
No worky, was fine two days ago, seems busted Now.
yea, I'm not a fan of PB because i see so many "picture has been moved" from bad URL's
I was using the uploader fine until yesterday
I have not have a positive experience, despite having followed specific instructions in the past from several members and moderators. Sometimes a picture seems to go nowhere. Once in a while it turns up twice, and once in a blue moon it works. I've given up.
It was easier before the "basic uploader" you just select files from URL or browse your computer, select and load.
Easy Peasy
Now ..... not so much :)
Just tried again, get a message, upload of file has failed.
Well this is a big.... Attachment 164127
Seems to work for me....
test picture insertion, using the basic uploader:

I guess you are uploading enormous files. On SRP they get reduced and over 95% is thrown out, so you are not gaining anything by that other than the convenience to keep your camera settings to the max values.
You will also likely get better quality images if you reduce the image size on your camera. Right now you're doing the equivalent of using 3'x6' (yes those are ft) sized hones for your razor work.
I've increased the default value for the filesize cutoff again, but I still don't think uploading giant files is a good practice.
I upload at the lowest settings my camera has which is 4:3 VGA? no clue as to what that means.
Never an issue until today, seems to be resolved tho.
Well, VGA resolution is 640x480 and the picture above in post #14 is larger than that. It is 667x500 which is the maximum that SRP allows, anything bigger gets downsized to it.
Plus you had problems uploading when the maximum filesize was the default 2MB and didn't have problems after I increased it, so I would say your original files are too big. The picture on SRP is 40KB, check the size of the copy on your computer and I bet it is over 2MB.
Not a clue how to ck size, have been using the same settings with the same camera for 3 yrs with never a problem
Am just Glad it works again, thank you.
Thanks Gugi....I'll check pic size from now on.
Yea, I'm with Bill, not very "techy" my file sizes hadn't changed either same camera ????
I do, however get that the files are downsized. Just don't get why they had a few days in limbo ?
No matter now its working and i will start downsizing my pics to make it not puke out :)
Thanks Gugi

Use an iPhone. I have the problem from time to time. Think it's just one of the programs updating(;-(. Always seem to correct itself in a couple of days.
Sorry to resurrect this, but I have a question. Why is it that I/we can only use the 'basic uploader' and not the uploader as it's presented to us? i.e just hit the browse button.
Mick
The short answer is that it has a security vulnerability and was disabled (including on the Yahoo and Google servers where it's mirrored). Since then a 'guy on the internet' has posted unofficial replacement with the security bug patched, and some sites are using that, but so far we don't. It may change, however I need to become a bit more comfortable with that than I am at present.
I know that it's just a shaving forum, but I can't help it and take the security fairly seriously. For example last year the other shaving forums which use the same software as us had some of their members passwords vulnerable due to a different security bug. We never suffered from this issue because I caught it immediately and closed the exposure (there were no attempts to exploit it, so even if I hadn't we'd be fine, but it's far better to be protected than rely on not being attacked).
Unfortunately there is always a trade-off between security and convenience.
Thanks gugi, I'm just relieved it's a forum thing and not my computer, which is what I thought it might be.
