I joined SRP in February of this year. Apparently, I am now considered a senior member, although I humbly confess to not feeling like one.
Just wondering about the criteria that shifted me from junior to senior status.

I joined SRP in February of this year. Apparently, I am now considered a senior member, although I humbly confess to not feeling like one.
Just wondering about the criteria that shifted me from junior to senior status.
Member levels are based on post count my friend. Congrats!!!
That is inless your name is a different color than black :tu
Ilwhen mine went to senior i thought it was a little too fast too. Wish there was a way to change that. Make a few levels. Guessing it preset in the software.
Congratulations on making it to the 'Senior' level. As Dave pointed out it's because of posts but I also believe the amount of time here is also figured into some of it.
There are certain areas here that aren't available to be able to access until you have reached certain levels.
More than once I've sent a link to something here at SRP to a newbie I've been helping and they can't access it. I'm sure that it's that way for good reasons.
That's the "official" criteria, but here's the truth:
1) It usually takes 6 months or so to truly succumb to a variety of "Acquisition Disorders,"
which are a requirement for Senior membership.
2) This in turn results in the necessity to expand and/or remodel your bathroom, in order
to accommodate your acquired array of soaps, creams and pre-shave concoctions;
mugs and scuttles; brushes; strops and abrasive pastes; razors (of course!);
aftershave lotions, balms, gels, moisturizers, conditioners and toners; and hones, oils,
abrasive fluids, tapes, straight edges, lapping plates, loupes and/or microscopes.
3) You will be locked out of the "Buy, Sell, Trade" area in a well-meaning, but probably
futile attempt to prevent the above disorders.
4) You need a few months to polish up a good story for your family and friends about
why it's important for you to chase the elusive "BBS."
Then, and only then, are you a certified "Senior Member." If you don't believe that,
you should check the fine print in the "Welcome" section. There's an app for that.
I like that my friend!

Here are some of my symptoms:
I scan online auction photo pages ignoring anything not straight razor related.
I check eBay shaving related pages several times a day.
I check my favorite online wet shaving sites a couple of times a day to see if they have anything new and immediately link to new sites mentioned by anyone else.
I watch honing videos on the Tube over and over again trying to pick up anything I might have missed.
I check for new posts on SRP four or five times a day, claiming I am just taking a well earned break from work.
I keep telling myself I have enough razors, enough hones, enough strops, but I still want more.
Am I sick?
2000 posts will get you the little animated talking face beside "Senior member"
But only if you don't put a custom one in like I and many of the other guys have.
Like what Gasman has up there ^^^
Ha. I guess i never noticed the blabbermouth next to mine. And hey, over 3000 posts in 18 months. Thats over 160 posts a month. Maybe i should keep my mouth shut more often. Nah... :)
Oh, and yes, you are sick. But not as sick as some of us.
