SRP Search plugin
hundreds of people have added themselves to the ebay user name thread so that those who wish may avoid bidding on a member's auction. to facilitate usage of that list, i've created the following. once it's in place, the built-in search box for IE and FF (at least current versions) will let you add a new search interface when you're on SRP so that later when you're bidding you can quickly see if an ebay user name (or for that matter any string, like a razor manufacturer, etc) is in SRP. It won't bypass any forum configuration regarding requiring login, and will behave just like the person went to the search page themselves and queried the string.
mods, please refer to anyone with admin access.
create a file called something like "srp_search.xml" in the /forums directory containing the following:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<OpenSearchDescription xmlns="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/">
<ShortName>Straight Razor Place</ShortName>
<Description>The ORIGINAL and OLDEST internet straight razor forum</Description>
<Image height="16" width="16" type="image/x-icon">http://straightrazorpalace.com/images/favicon.ico</Image>
<Url type="text/html" method="get" template="http://straightrazorpalace.com/search.php?do=process&query={searchTerms}" />
</OpenSearchDescription>
next go to the forum admin control panel and open up your "headinclude" template, and add this to the bottom:
Code:
<link rel="search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" href="http://straightrazorpalace.com/srp_search.xml" title="Straight Razor Place" />

if anyone with access sufficient to complete this has any questions about the implementation, i'd be glad to help.
