Awsome..Just what I thought of today that I needed really!:bow
Nice Job.. :tu
Is that before every shave or just when the brush is new? The wiki isn't clear on this. (Or maybe it's me having preconceptions.)Quote:
Before I start I wash the brush using a normal shampoo and hair conditioner
By coincidence I received a new best badger brush today and had another go at using Mitchell's Wool Fat soap (which hadn't worked too well with my super badger brush.) It wasn't a great success, the MWF erupted into suds at first and took a lot of "stirring" with the brush to get it to be more lathery. For the first time in ages my lather was completely used up by the end of my shave. I think I've been spoiled by TOBS shaving cream.
I'll give the MWF another shot after the best badger brush is broken in, and will follow your advice to pick up more soap part way through the lathering.
You're right, the wording in the wiki would suggest that the brush needs washing with shampoo and conditioner before every shave. While it may be true that that softens the bristles, I doubt that it is required with a softer brush. But probably a good idea for brushes with harder bristles.
This is a very good idea...we need more soap and cream knowledge around here!
Rajagra, MWF is a bit finnicky. make sure your brush isn't too wet at first. When you load the brush, get as much soap as you humanly can, and then get some more. As you lather, you might need to add a few DROPS of water, at intervals, to get the right lather consistency. Once you hit the sweet spot, though, it is the best thing on earth. Seriously. You face will weep tears of joy when you shave with a good MWF lather. :D
Before I start I wash the brush using a normal shampoo etc...
could be changed to something like.
Before it's first use I wash the brush using a normal shampoo etc..
...unless you do shampoo before every use ? which would seem excessive.
in my opinion, the part about shampooing the brush can be left out regardless of how often Tony does it. It isn't necessary to making a basic soap lather which is what the article is addressing. We do still need a brush article though, and a first shampoo tip might be useful there :tu
Thank you gents.
It was so late when I wrote this that I did not see that. I changed the sentence a little to describe better how I do. I only wash the brush once before the first use NOT every time when making a lather from soap or cream.
:p
Edit: I added more comments on MWF to help to get a good lather
