Even though I'm new, I vote yes.
Perhaps contributors could get a day or two 'heads up' in the classifieds before the rest of the world can see what is being offered?

No. There will not be a difference between paying and non-paying members.
The differences will be in non-essential features (email, blog, chicklet color, whatever) but the shaving related stuff (classifieds, access to forums, etc) will be the same.
Suppose we were to do as you say, then all the good deals would be scooped up by paying members, and the non-paying members would get the rest. That would create friction, and a class-based community.
I have no idea. Have to check with David if this is customizable at all.
In any case... keep 'em coming.
Well, we are already class based.
The hierarchy goes
admins
supermods
mods
users
That system is based on the need to keep this site running. Without that system, we could not maintain this site unless we made everyone an admin, but that wouldn't work either.
But to base class (what you can do in the forum) on contribution would be wrong imo.
Because the first and most important goal of this site is to collect information regarding shaving, and to foster a community where people can both learn as much as possible, and contribute as much as possible.
Introducing money based classes would have a negative effect on that goal, because not all people would have access to all information. And the artificial rift between haves and have nots would further cause friction instead of cooperation.
When I was a young man an old fellow I knew would frequently comment that,"You can go to Macys, to Gimbels, to Saks Fifth Avenue, but you can't buy class."
I have voted - yes. Because without money even good deeds do not do. And I very much would want, that this community had a future and good future. It is necessary to develop, and for this purpose needs money.
And thanks all of you.
I also voted yes. I have no problem paying for services in a community I'm active in. Or donating to a community I'm active in. Whichever the case may be.
