Thumbs up New Styles added to the Forum for your viewing pleasure…

I loaded some additional graphics and changed some options today to enable you to select different “styles” when viewing the forums. Styles, in the context here, means the layout, graphics, and color combinations used to display the forum (you may know this concept by other names, such as skins, templates, etc.). Initially, we will have 4 styles available… I’ll be adding several more as time permits.

    Caution…
Please do not confuse the SRP site with the forum. The main SRP site runs a CMS (Content Management System) which enables you to select which functionality you wish to display in the common area of the screen. For example, you can select to view the forum, or to view the classifieds, or to view the gallery, etc. All of the choices currently have a common “look” style-wise -- the lime-green & blue on white motif..

Now that you can select different colors for the forum display, you might also wish to just display the forum in it’s own browser window instead of the shared space allocated by the CMS system. To do this simply go to the url: http://www.straightrazorplace/forums2 By accessing the forum this way you can avoid the “color clash” if you decide to choose a different style.

Currently, everyone is configured to use the SRP-default style (the lime-green & blue motif), which is called “Evil Dave”. You can continue to use this style without taking any additional actions.

However, if you’d like to change, these are the current choices:
    1. Classic (vBulletin default) -- an antique blue on greyish lavender background
    2. Evil Dave (SRP default) -- the lime-green & blue on white background
    3. Red2Black -- black background w/white text and red accents
    4. BlueSteel -- dark teal on light teal background

You have two methods of selecting a different Style…
    1. If you look at the bottom-left of your forum screen you will now see a drop-down list box which will allow you to choose between the different styles.
    2. If you look on the tool bar at the top of the forum you will see “UserCP” – click that and then select Edit Options; near the bottom of the screen is a drop-down listbox which allows you to select the style.

I hope you enjoy one or more of these styles and remember,

Edits: 16Sep05 - Changed "User Options" to "Edit Options", which is the correct item title on the User CP.

    Default

And, as you can see, there's a few problems with some alignments and a couple hot links, etc. I thought I had all that resolved, but apparently not. I'm working on it. ...azjoe.

Default Another new style added -- sorta

Well, I think I've resolved all of the known forum style issues. As a bonus, tonight I added a new one -- "oldwow". It's the last style in the drop-down selection list.

NOTE: The Oldwow style is only useful if you access the forums directly via http://straightrazorpalace.com2.

This style was created by a French company and hasn't had all of the buttons and Icons converted to English yet, so I used ones from another style until they're available (the guy's apparently on vacation). I'll update them as soon as they're available.

If you have any problems with this style (or any of the others, as well) please let me know. ...azjoe

    Thumbs up

Nice Job! I like being able to open the forum in its own window with the very familiar classic style.

    Take care,
