The "Thanks" button - she's a bit touchy...

I have this problem on both Firefox at home and on Safari at work:

Many times when I click the Thanks button nothing happens. I refresh the page and try again, eventually it will work. On average, it takes me six tries to thank a post.

Does anyone else have this trouble?

Mine's the same, for whatever reason. I'm computarded, so overcome it by right clicking, then clicking "open link in new tab" works for me, but still a bit annoying.

I think it was Max who alerted us to the "thanks" button not working when the post is one you arrived at via the "new posts" search.

If you arrive at the post any other way, the thanks button should work fine

opening the thanks in a new tab is an easy solution - and as a dev, I think the easy solutions are often best :)

You probably need to adjust your ad block settings or other settings within your browser

I think this particular issue is a code bug in VB as a separate issue from browser settings

Sure enough... If I get there via "new posts" click out and back in, the button works fine. Thanks Lee.
I would give you a bigger thanks if you actually fixed the danged thing. ;)

As an end user I think the solutions where things work the way you'd expect them to are the best. :D

I run Linux mint with Mozilla Firefox and never have had a problem leaving a thanks. :shrug:

Lee, in addition to the Linux & Firefox I also run NoScript. I have no popups if I'm not allowing java scripting and the thanks button still functions for me. If I allow java I get the vendor ads on the side bar but I've never gotten that weird popup stuff that some members have posted about. I don't know if that is any help but thought to mention it.

seriously though I don't know why this issue appears the way it does. I run noscript as well, but I have never used Mint. I suppose I could try it though just to eliminate the bug symptom :)

I like mint very much. Better that Fedora or Ubuntu but YMMV. :) I use KDE window manager and apps and like it better than gnome.
