I see why you can't log in, from the server updates, thanks for the PM through someone else's PC, Sham.
The DNS isn't something that you have to get from your ISP. There's always the option for say Google Public DNS
that is the message i am getting when i try to log in to srp.
i have called my ISP AND THERE is nothing they can do about this problem. i use someone else laptop or any other desktop i have no problem log in to srp.
Problem is only my laptop.
i took laptop to another location and try to log in to srp and did get exact same message.
SRP DNS needs to be updated.
At the moment SRP HAS 2 DIFFERENT DNS .
I Think that is why i am unable to use my laptop to log in to srp. it uses old one.
lets say if i use proxy server in same laptop i don't have any problem.
another option is just to use internet cloak i don't have problem ether.
i will look gugi your option too lets see what happens.
Sham,
Try this: How to flush DNS cache in Linux / Windows / Mac - Techie Corner
also make sure there are no entries for SRP in your hosts file
it should be in Windows\system32\drivers\etc\
i did change DNS AS you suggested using google but didn't help.
if any of you knows what is the real problem and can help please send pm.thank you
Hi guys,
I was having this message sometimes but not always. The following link seems to have solved the problem. This is for windows 7 but there must be others. Just type DNS addressing in (name of OS)
DNS Addressing - How to Change in Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums
I got exactly the same message on my laptop few days ago. What helped was changing the DNS like Gugi stated (post #3).
Now as the problem seems to be fixed, i changed the old DNS back and it works again.
SRP has single IP address and a single authoritative DNS server that always has the correct IP, but there are thousands of other DNS servers which synch with the authoritative answer. They don't do it very often, so whenever there is a change it takes time for it to propagate.
The google DNS servers are quite good, so using them instead of the ones from your internet provider may yield better results. They do have the correct info.
So, if your computer doesn't find SRP, just change the DNS on the network settings to the google's servers and it should work. The link in my first post has instructions how to do it on various operating systems.Code:$dig @8.8.8.8 straightrazorplace.com

i don't know whether xp can share screen via chat, like you can do on osx, but here's how you set up the dns server:
Windows XP: Managing your network connections
the last screenshots should have 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. for preferred and alternate dns server on the bottom.
I had the same issue nd my server provider basically said stiff bikkies, nothing they could do. I don't know what happened to sort it out, but it was OK after a few days of frustration.
Mick
Problem resolved finally.
thank you all
Ah, finally! What did you end up doing?
I came to post your screnshots with the DNS servers pointing to google, but the ping resolving to the old IP address, to see if any of the windows people have an idea, but appears there's no need for it.
it had on system32 . etc - host files. i deleted all of them and after that it start to work.
thank you all.
Good to hear you're back in action.
Glad you're all sorted now Sham.
Mick
So does this mean we can't keep Sham from logging in ? :banghead:
Just kidding Sham, glad you got it straighted out. :D
I knew it! Someone buy me a beer
Was unable to view this site for a week or so now from home. Followed the very simple instructions to get going with the Google DNS settings and it worked a treat now. Thanks to the poster that suggested that!!
I was beginning to have withdrawal symptoms... must get my SRP fix!!!
