It would be really nice to have a section in our profile where we can list which razors/brushes/treatments we currently use/have in our possession!
This would let member X to click on MY profile and go right to our 'equipment' tab and look over what we have/what we are currently using on a daily basis!
We actually have even better than a list on SRP
go to your profile page, left side, scroll down, see the Albums tab ???
You can actually load pics of your shaving arsenal/collections in there :) and name that album what ever you chose
ie:
Brushes
Razors
Strops
Etc etc
Ain't enough bandwidth to list it all for some of us ......... :rofl2:
The best way to see what equipment members are using is to follow the "Shave of the Day" and "Soap of the Day" threads.
Lol the OP hasn't sunk to the depths of Acquisition Disorder that some of us have sunk to :D

Hey that's an excellent tip, I never knew that existed! I just made an album named 'My Current Razors' (5 used in rotation) and uploaded my past SOTD photos of each. Now I'll try and work out how to change the description on each one!Quote:

Ièm finding that very few members on here are posting pictures in an album. If there was an "equipment" list we could just list, in text, what we had, with the option of posting pictures along with it :)
After being on here for a month and checking out profiles of members that are mentors, vendors, etc, I'm still failing to see people with many pictures in their profiles!
There is all this talk of magical wonder blades, rarities and customs that we have to siphon the forum to get glimpses of.
C'mon everyone! Get your pictures up and in your profiles!!!!!!

We can do that? I see a blog thing but I've never been able to figure out how to make a blog to keep track of my experiences and stuff learned.
We CAN add picture but very few people seem to take the time to upload them and post them on their profile where we are able to view

Yes, but go look at these old guys (people with 1000 posts and up) and very very few have any pictures of their gear! It's disappointing!
Well, I'm only 50, it's not old, I guess I'm getting on and all, but I think there's still some life in me yet...
I think the album idea is the best idea for this, myself. If you keep talking about it people will notice, I think. In fact, it's prompted me to update my own meagre album. I don't have a lot of gear so it's not really relevant to me, anyhow. I find the SOTD thread the best way to lust after gear; and some of the photos are really excellent quality, I think. Also, you generally get a mini review of the gear, and can enter into conversation about it. I post there almost everyday and love looking at all the gear there.

You've got some wonderful pictures! I'm actually into photography myself! I picked up the Sony A77 this year and have 3 lenses for it. I see you've found the sunburst/lense flare tool in photoshop? I used to hate seeing lense flare in my pictures but now I find myself chasing it! There is something special about the way light refracts within each lense that gives very different results depending on the lense.
You, Carl, have bought into what I was trying to sell and appreciate it!
As a suggestion.
I have known some very serious knife collectors over the years that are very active on forums. Yet their collections are something they keep private except to close friends. You will never see these types sharing collection photos.
Some view it as bragging and others view it as no ones business.
I like your idea, but perhaps this could explain why you do not see more?
I see your point but at the same time I feel as if there is a pretty strong sense of community here. From my perspective, I don't see it as bragging. Being able to admire and covet other peoples creations and or prized blades is something I think lots of us enjoy! Let's get these blades on here so everyone can see what's out there!
You don't but others might. There is a strong sense of community here, and I try and respect that. I have had some VERY good friends that I share personal details with...but I still do not share the depths of my collections with them. It may be something you do not understand.Quote:

Putting photos of your gear in an album may not be too bad if you want to do so. What I do find slightly in bad taste is the ability to generate gear lists that appear every time you post to a thread. I belong to a camera forum that has that feature and every time I see that I think wow should that mean there is added weight to what is said. It is just a personal thing where when growing up things like that were construed to be tantamount to bragging and really bad form. Just a personal quirk, not saying it is relevant to others or that it should be.

Same with some gun forums I belong to. I always associate the "gear list" with $...something I don't have much of. Yes, I've accumulated a little over the years, but some could obtain what I have in a few months if they had the bank account.

Oh, I do understand your intentions, who does not like looking at razor porn. Nor did I say anyone was bragging, just a personality quirk that I have about equipment lists. For me, there is plenty of razor porn on display in the various groups for manufacturers and in the show and tell. I also try and keep what little privacy I am left these days and I am not even on stuff like facebook. Again another personal quirk and not applicable to anyone else.

the "old guys" are the reason we are able to even be on this website, why there is so much information on every subject. They take the time to mentor us. I agree there must be some amazing hidden gems out there, but you can search and most often times find info on nearly any razor, and usually with a photo. Membership is based on posts, that i can make out, not shaves, so even though i am not a junior member now, i still consider myself very much a junior shaver. Everyone loves to see the latest restore, and custom, but bottom line for me at the moment is to perfect shaving, and everything else associated with it, including eventually restoring razors. Because of what i have learned here in two months, if i had the choice between my first $4 straight, and believe me its not pretty, and the latest gillette mk9 vibrating, self-cleaning, self-lubricating razor with a trimmer on the other end, guaranteed to clog within 2 seconds, in blue or silver, i would pick the straight....................... Mind you, a trimmer would be handy aye?...............Na.
Thank you. I was a little obsessed about the lens flare a while ago, but I actually use GIMP for my photos...I do like 'natural' lens flare and some of the vignetting I get with my Holga...Quote:
