Workshop/Forge review section???

Just a thought, but I was wondering if it would be possible to put an equipment review section in the workshop/forge forums? This way everyone can review equipment, tools, accessories for customizing, restoring, and forging razors; giving guys ideas about where and how to spend their money on tools. I know this has been the most expensive part of this for me is buying the tools, and knowing what would be a total waste of money, or a product that consistently has defects to avoid would be a big help.

It's a good thought, however you will find that many of our tools we use are made in the shop. Most of the restorers I know of have a hodge-podge of odd and end tools that work for them.

My suggestion to you or any other person thinking about purchasing a particular tool for a task, ask about it in the workshop section and what you intend on doing with it. These restoration and razor maker guru's are amazing with their ingenuity.

Be sure to read the Wiki's in the Workshop and Forge as there is a lot of information there to get your noodle to smoking...

There is currently no review section active at SRP, though there was one in the past. At the present time there are no definite plans to bring it back. However, if we do work something out and the review section comes back I don't see why we couldn't include some additional sections :). Please realize this will not happen over night though....

Scott is pretty much spot on. Most of what I have in my shop is cobbled together from bits and pieces, depending in large part on what was available locally or what I had lying in my scrap pile at that particular time.

The only exception would be my drill press.

Besides, we are currently working on getting a new review system. The old one didn't work properly, and it is taking some time getting a new one.

That's cool guys, I have done alot of "jury riggin" as well, and making due with mostly sandpaper, handtools, a vise, and a dremel. Just got my buffer, and will be adding as money is available (almost funny to think about!). If there is another review section, great, if not; everyone here is pretty forthcoming with help and info when asked so no biggie in the end. Thanks for replying, Tiddle
