I bought this on eBay a while back to try and it is horrible.
The lather does not stay very long and it is not very slick.
I threw it in the garbage today as it is pretty much worthless for straight razor shaving.

Bummer! If I get a bad shave soap, it turns into a bath soap, unless it smells bad
It happened to me too. I tried a bay rum AS and loved it, but their jarred cream was a total failure.
That's the risk you take with artisan/homemade products, most tend to be horrible.
The last time I tried amateur soap was a few years ago, a guy was handing out samples at a get together. The lather wouldn't even last for 20 seconds let alone one full pass, and it smelled horrible to boot. That one bypassed the shower and went straight into the garbage. The funny thing is the guy asked for honest feedback and I would have obliged but he failed to leave any contact info lol
The worst soap for me was bald frog, but a yr later and more experience I'm 100% sure it was my lather technique
W.M. Neumann bay rum. The lather was thin and broke down into nothing after a minute. Funny thing is that their 1911 soap is quite nice without those problems.
Mystic Water. Great scents, but I'm convinced it's bath soap masquerading as shave soap, the lather is anemic.
I was hoping the soap would be good as it is made by a military wife and I like to support them when I can.
Ditto. The first soaps I got were off of ebay and were awful. Could barely get it to lather and it didn't stay very long. Fortunately the seller had a money back guaranty so I took her up on it.
I got some artisan soap that's good. It'll last a pass, better yet you can lather up, go strop your razor come back and still last the pass with just the right amount of slip. If you'd like to sample it just let me know.
When I try a soap that fails, it can sometimes be used successfully as part of an uberlather concoction. I purchased several "shaving butters" that don't lather. Perhaps they are not supposed to, but they did provide great glide, yet no cushion. When mixed with good shaving soap, they made a great uberlather. Hey, it's worth a try
Everyman Jack - bought a tube for my trash can a while back....
I have some from a couple of makers that at first I thought was lousy. I haven't tried to many soaps so I kept trying them out to see if it was me. Turns out it was me. I just needed to load up more and keep the water going. Now I will order 2 of them again someday because of the scents. I am sure not all artisans are experienced enough or care to make soaps specific to wet shaving.
Baxter of California. Hate their products...shave cream lathered like crap, smelled like crap, and left a residue of crap in my brush that I had to break down with vinegar water just the get the crap out!
I've gotten loads of different samples of their products...shampoo, body washes, scrubby face wash, aftershave, you name it!
Now, whenever I get them tossed in with my order, I give them to my smart-mouth brother...lol

Lightfoot Pine Soap
It's a very hard soap so I tried soaking it for various lengths of time, grating into stick form (my preferred means of delivery), grating into a bowl with glycerine.. everything. It will lather but it's thin and weak by any standard no matter what I did to it. I tried several uberlather mixes with good lathering soaps and all it did was ruin a good soap. It doesn't even work as a bath soap and has very little pine scent to boot. If the earth ever needs an enema they'll stick the tube in the Lightfood Pine Soap factory.
