Hey guys got a quick question. Up until a few months ago I'd been using TOBS and Proraso creams. I got some Trumpers and Harris for Christmas. Yay me ! I have found it doesn't lather the same as TOBS. My problem is they both seem to get loose and bubblely and not real creamy. I know its a water cream ratio thing, but I was wondering what I need to correct? Thanks for any help in advance!
I had the exact same experience with a sample of DR Harris Windsor cream. Lots of suds and no protection. On the other hand my Trumpers coconut shave cream gives me some of the creamiest lathers I've ever had and really good protection.

I assume you mean Harris and Trumper creams and not soaps. In my experience, both creams provide excellent lather with fine cushion and glide. Try loading your brush drier and adjust the water when creating lather.
If using Harris and Trumper soaps, Harris is superb, Trumper embarrassing.
Yes , I should have specified, I was speaking of creams. I actually went home today and played around with them both a little . As you suggested I loaded the brush drier and used a little more product , not much. Things came along much better. I believe I was just using to much water. I used the D. R. Harris for a shave , and it went much better. I still wonder why I was getting a better lather with the TOBS. I have been using it for a year or so I guess I just got use to it. I have to say they do behave differently, but my lather with TOBS may have been pretty bad in the beginning too. Don't really remember. Thanks for the help.
Just used the trumpers coconut and gad an awesome shave. Very good cream.
The DR Harris Windsor is one of my favorites in the bowl, and I have no problem lather it. I always splash some hot tap water on top of the puck, get shaving stuff ready, rinse my face, get the brush nice and wet and rinsed out, then swirl away clockwise and counterclockwise, and lather on my face.Quote:

Your absolutely right Phrank, after having a mediocre experience with the DR Harris cream I ordered the soap from SRD because I really liked that Windsor scent, and sure enough it's one the best soaps I've ever tried! Hard to believe there's such a disparity between the cream and the soap but I can't argue with my own experience.
And everyone would do it every time! I find, DR Harris is my favorite cream so far, and I just find that it takes a slow addition of water for me to get it just right in my mug or scuttle. I start with very little cream and a wet brush (but not dripping), begin to work it, then add slashes of water as I move on. I usually get l;arguer bubbles and keep working (and adding a little water at a time, until it smooths out. It's much easier and less time-consuming for me than most soaps.Quote:
