I agree that LPL is a very good soap - not in the MdC class but not far off. I decided to try another French soap, Institut Karite, and was just as pleased with that one. I have quite hard water but all three of these lather easily.

I've noticed a funny thing, reading this tread :
I was thinking that's strange to see so much treads about french and European shaving soaps ^^
And reading on the french forum, that's the same about americans shaving soap ;)
I know, my thougt is not really usefull, but I fined this funny
What are the American shaving soaps that are talked about? I feel like I'm missing out.....
I can think of only a few production shave soaps & creams and I'm not even sure if they're made in the USA
Crabtree & Evelyn, Williams Mug soap, Taconic (Artisan?), the rest is all canned goo like Gillette and Barbasol, Colgate
Artisan soaps I can think of a couple that I tried - Mikes Natural Soaps, Portland General Store
The Art of Shaving, Baxter of California
There's nothing like the allure of something that seems exotic. :)
Catie's Bubbles, How to Grow a Mustache and Stirling make some great soaps here in America ! Just used Catie's Bubbles Purple Grapefruit this am and it was AWESOME !
