Straight razor soap

Obie's suggestions are great. However, I haven't tried them all. I will note that Institut Karit while having a wonderful fragrance, didn't have a staying lather effect, often disappearing from my face prematurely. Instead, I'll use it in combination with glycerin and a mild or unscented hard soap.

I would also point out that I have hard water. My 2nd soap was VDH. Finally, achieved a real lather. My 3rd was Proraso Green. It's really my mainstay. Easy to lather, good glide and awesome menthol sensation on the skin. I highly recommend. Oh, and price was good as well.

ps-forgot to add TOBS(Taylor of Old Bond Street) soap cream soaps. I have the grapefruit and its a magnificent lather, scent, glide, cushion.

If you dont mind the 20 dollar range of soaps I recently tried and loved a soap that really doesnt get much love here on the forum for some reason but I think its amazing. Its LA shaving soap. They have a bayrum scent that is amazing and their topanga fougere is top notch. This is the only bay rum I have found to date that I like. Its a softer soap, lathers easily(even with so cal hard water) and was super slick.

Some may scoff and wonder why anyone would use a shave stick shave soap you have to let outgas. My answer is simple, because it is one of the best shaving soaps out there bar none, but as mentioned, I don't care to use shaving sticks so I grate mine and load my brush from a bowl of Arko shave flakes, compressed, so it looks like a shave soap. Problem solved!

Alas, this thread has careened in a different dimension since, originally, our good friend HoldingFast inquired about I Coloniali shaving soap.

HoldingFast, as I noted earlier, I Coloniali is a good soap with an intoxicating scent. it is worth the try.

I do not consider your remarks directed at me or anyone else in this forum. I just have to scratch my head at such remarks as "snobby shave soap threads."

But as I noted earlier, this thread has veered way off course, so please let's stay on the original topic of I Coloniali shaving soap HoldingFast inquired about.

Maybe I should change my screen name to Arko. I often outgas before a shave.
