One of the best soaps i've had the pleasure to use...

Yesterday my friend Bob gave me a sample puck of his wife's comfrey- lavender shave soap. And i must say that it is amazing.. In terms of lather, comfort, scent and quality. On par or superior to most of the soaps i've tried over the years from the "heavyweight" firms such as trufitt&hill and taylor of old bond street. Anyone looking for a very high quality product check out purensimplesoap.com. Oh and a side note having sensitive skin, and a lavender allergy(gives me a burning rash) i was hesitant about trying it, but i had no reaction whatsoever. It is definatly worth a shot if anyone is looking into trying a 100% hand crafted soap made in upstate new york.

Price point i believe Bob told me they price the 4oz bar at around $5. This puck(in picture) i was gifted as a sample its about 1-2 oz.

Cool, Homemade items can be of really high quality (small batches, attention to detail, etc...). My wife and I make our own soap from deer tallow, lye, a few other oils and essential oils. I'll have to try it for shaving with once I learn how to use a straight razor.

I only recently started using a straight, but have almost always used soaps and the classic wet shave method/style; i would say go for it. Even using a cart. Razor in my experience you get a better shave using soap or cream. As opposed to the aerosol goop.

Alrighty then. I will give it a try and let you know how it goes.

Well I gave our home made tallow soap a try and it works great. Very impressed for a "bar" soap. I mentioned it to my wife and she said that she has a "shaving soap" recipe as well. All this time and she has been holding back on me... :cry:
