Have to start avoiding this section of SRP!

So one of my biggest AD's is soaps an creams. Probably have enough in stock to not need to buy for over a year or two. I keep coming in here reading about this cream an that soap an have to try them. Being intrigued by Razorock, once again I started shopping. Ended up buying a container of MudderFocker an Don Marco. In my mind I said that's enough for now. Then I come back on here an read about another great product to try ugh..... So either I need to expand the cabinets an storage in the shave den or stop reading in this section of SRP. My wish list contains the following. The least you enablers could do is help me narrow them down.... :D

Yes, think I'm also becoming a member of the SAD club.

Valery from the Gentleman's Den gave me a tin of Barrister and Mann, stunning stuff...then OCDShaver commented that he loves the stuff, I value his opinion a lot, so there I was, on the B&M site, and ordered every one of their soaps! I mean, if you're going to pay shipping...then why not get them all...right!?!

Hey coal, MDC, whilst nice isnt worth the cost in my mind, but until you try it i would wager you wont believe me, Obie said that La Pere Lucien is very good in an MDC way, and by comparison is about 20% of the price, i think i found it available from a US supplier, but didnt buy it because shipping to australia would triple the cost.
Dont get me wrong it IS nice, but expensive. Obie would probably disagree with me though i know he loves it, and he has vastly more experience than me.
Other than that i cant input sorry.

Did you get the razorocks in yet? I'm curious to see how you like them. I have the mudderfocker and fresco and I think they perform just fantastically. And they're inexpensive to boot.
MdC is a must have in my opinion, at least some time in your life. Old Towne Shaving in Pasadena, CA carries it and I believe they'll ship if you call them on the phone. At least you can save the international shipping...

Got to go along with Ed on the MdC, it is a very nice/great soap but the price is outrageous for what it is, IMHO. Just hard to justify on a cost to performance ratio for me. Yea, I do have it and use it. If the price point doesn't bother you then you will not be disappointed. I have LPL too and find it similar to MdC, maybe a notch under.

I am in your SAD club having just gotten 4 RR soaps in today. Will be trying The Freedburg tomorrow morning. Tight Buns, Mudder Fokker and XXX are next up.

Definitely try one of the Maggard's. The Limes & Bergamot has become one of my "Top 5". I just used RR "The Freedberg" for the 2nd time today. It is excellent and was scented to match Fine Platinum/Creed Aventus.

See how I slipped that AS RAD in there............

FYI-The Maggard's are leaving for vacation August 1st. They should have someone filling orders though.

The best resistance is "non-resistance". Did ya' ever have a skeeter bite that itched and when you scratched it the itch became worse? Kinda like that with shaving supplies.

This area of SRP actually holds the greatest value of all. When you compare the price of soaps and creams to the other shaving necessities and add in the "cost vs enjoyment" factor, I'm thinking spending your time here has the greatest reward. I shudder when I think back to the days of push button, aerosol, scentless, mediocrity that plagued my morning routine.

I'm actually working on a digitally timed appliance that will wake me up to the smell of my favorite scents. If I'm successful, selling a few each year could very well finance my cravings for life. "Please sir... I want some more"!

some places do samplers of a full range of soaps or creams, i recently bought a sample pack of dr harris creams, about 8 tubs i think for $20, each one is supposed to last about a week. obviously not as cheap as buying full sized tubs, but you get to try the whole range for about the same cost as one full size tub. I used the rose last night and it was really nice, the scent was strong enough without overpowering, and it wasnt sickly or cloying.

I'm pretty impressed with the RazoRock 888 for performance, sadly it completely lacks any hint of eucalyptus :(

I guess that I am immune to this ailment as I have a very low tolerance to strong odors. When I say "strong", you may smell a hint of fragrances but I get beat over the nose with them. My family has to be diligent about what they buy and use around me or it can be disastrous. One time I was driving with my wife and daughter in the car, in the back seat my daughter started using one of her favorite scented hand sanitizers and it sent me into convulsions so bad that I almost caused an accident. I had to pull to the side of the road as my sinuses closed up and almost suffocated me. They left me gagging and struggling to breathe as they went to wash her hands of the offending odor. So far I have been lucky with the soaps that I have used, I dare not risk any others as I have to be enclosed with them in my motorcycle helmet for an extended period of time.

I have the exact opposite problem. Most of those delightfully scented soaps, according to their users, are lost to me. It has to be a very strong or heavy scent to get through to me. When I can sense an aroma it is either very, very strong or I'm coming down with something, no in between. The only compensation I have for a lousy sense of smell is that on rare, rare occasion I see colors when I hear a piece of music. By seeing I mean that most of the time I sense the color and translate the sensing into a visual image. If I remember correctly there was a sci-fi story I read a long time ago, a funny tale, where it ended with the hero saying, "I smell something blue."

I think I know that story. "The Blue Adept" by Piers Anthony from the "Adept" series. In fact, as soon as you said that you "smell colors", I thought of that story.

I'll check it out next time I'm at the library.

Yes, Martin de Candre is pricey, but if I have the money, I will not hesitate to purchase it. Right now, with the other soaps and creams in rotation, I have enough Martin de Candre to last me for the rest of the year. After that, I will find the money somewhere to re-order it.

For me, what makes a good soap or cream, in addition to luxurious lather, comfortable cushion and slick glide, is how comfortable it leaves the face after the shave. I prefer comfort over perfect. Martin de Candre also leaves my face comfortable.

Other soaps and creams that do the same include: Castle Forbes, BAUM.BE, Estbjerg, Santa Maria Novella, Xpec (although it's future is in doubt and I have a just a little bit left), Truefitt & Hill's Ultimate Comfort and Le Pere Lucien.

If anything, give these a try at least once — if you like fine soaps or creams that also leave your face comfortable.

Well I haven't got it my new razorock yet. I've been out of town for work the last couple days. Was hoping to return home to a package. Probably will show up tomorrow.

Well it was like Christmas this morning. All my packages showed up at once. So I got my new brushes, new soaps, an another superspeed from the bay. That's how I like to wake up. So on to the soaps. Don marco smells amazing like a fresh cut orange. Mudderfocker is tough for me to explain. Smells great like a real gentlemans cologne. Not heavy at all. If the performance matches the scents I don't see how razorock could be beat for the price range. Will let yall know how they perform.

I have MdC on my desk as well as the gift for my wife. The Rose soap I purchased for her is smelling up the office quite nicely
