I finally tried it! Used just a drop on my brush or finger tip if face lathering or in my bowl with soap if bowl lathering. It worked great, really made the shave smoother & slicker. Another great cold water shave.

I use it with every shave. Dirt cheap too! Prime component in uberlather!!
I use it about 70% of the time, 5 drops in the bowl.
Thanks for posting - I forgot all about mine!
I use it but only with creams. Never have got the same added slickness with soaps. Then again I don't use soaps to often so it could be my mix.
Just dont use too much, i read that it wicks moisture after a certain concentration (about 20% i think), but yes it is handy
Just used 5 drops of glycerin in some Williams a few minutes ago. Makes a big difference.

What does the glycerin actually do? why use it?
It helps the lather retain moisture and increases the slickness. I use it to make Ubelathers. I use Razorock soap and make my lather in the container, then add a few drops of glycerin and a dab of crème to my scuttle, then take the brush and build the ubelather in the scuttle. Amazing results
+1 on cubancigar2000 post. I don't do the "uberlather thing" but it does seem to help slickness a tad.
To echo Ed, too much and you'll peel like a lizard shedding it's skin. I've had no trouble from 5 drops.
Makes a mundane lather into a magnificent mound of gliding comfort. Two to five drops, depending on soaps/creams used, to make a good uberlather.
I think I've heard of using it with witch hazel as an after shave also.
Couple drops on a sticky fine water hone helps a lot!

I tried slicking up my lather a number of years ago now. Worked OK but I got a lot of ribbing over it. http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...lubricity.html
James.
I like using liquid glycerin so much I tried a new approach. I coat a brush with a Van Der Hagen glycerin puck and then add Proraso
shave soap. The combination gives me about the slickest uber lather I have come up with.Attachment 179892
Man, who ever said this stuff was cheap? Rite Aid wanted like $8 a bottle. Anyone know of another place to get it for cheaper? I'd imagine the 6 oz. bottle will last a long time at 5 drops per shave.. But still. I'd rather save money for razors. :boohoo:
