Can anyone comment on the difference between the soap and the cream regarding the ingredients? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Nut oil for some can cause pimples and for me unfortunately I'm one of them! I'm afraid to try the cream because the last cream I tried, jack black shaving cream which has macadamia nuts listed, i felt like a hormonal pre teen again, Wayne's world, Wayne's word, Schwing! And I broke out with a bad case of the pimples. Can I try the soap instead or with the nut oil is it not a good idea. I'm almost out of my castle Forbes lime and wanted to try something new.
Just re-sniffed my Lavender de Luxe paste and it smells just like the shrubs out back. A very good soap.
The problem batch lathered up very quickly and produced copious amounts of lather. The problem was the lather was more like a foam and it disappeared from your face with a minute or so after application.
I wasn't avoiding your question, Ron, I was just trying to understand what exactly you were trying to establish.
Nelson's answer is, however, only partly correct. The phenomenon he described occurred only if the product was used with too much water. Using next to no water, it was entirely possible to produce good lather. However, such a narrow margin of error is not acceptable for a consumer product.
That said, this entire discussion is entirely hypothetical. We are talking about an event that happened more than half a year ago, and only affected a few users in Germany. And Nelson, of course, but he insisted on ordering the product despite knowing that it would be difficult to use. The problem source was instantly identified, and removed. I think Meißner handled the situation very well. I remember a highly renowned brush maker from England refusing to even discuss the replacement of a brush which shed up to 20 hairs per use...
If nut oil causes acne for you, you are probably allergic to nuts. The macadamia nut oil used by Meißner Tremonia is generally suitable for all skin types, because its composition is very similar to human sebum in terms of fatty acids. It is the only only vegetable oil that has a high proportion of palmitoleic acid, which makes it smooting and skin-friendly. But if you are allergic to nuts in general, you might be allergic to any product containing nut oils.
Something new from Meissner Tremonia ...

I just received a free sample of the Strong and Scottish paste and was blown away with the performance of this stuff,I ordered a paste and a soap, hope the soap is as slick as the paste.
Yes it is.
I've just tried a sample of Strong and Scottish. Fantastic. I only put a little on the brush to begin to see how much I'd need. Had to put a little more on until I got it right. It lathers so well. A really thick, luxurious lather. To say the smell is strong is something of an understatement. Very powerful, but I love it. Peat. Whiskey. Leather. Smokey. I got a 10ml sample and I estimate there's enough in there for me to manage about 10 or so shaves. I have a feeling this could become my favourite.
Well, I have beta versions of the Strong & Scottish aftershave "splash" and balm here. They are very nice...
I must be missing something. I ordered four samples of paste: dark limes, himalayan heights, salty sea sage and exotic emeli. Absolutely love the smells and skin benefits but cant seem to get a decent lather, never had this problem before. I have tried all manner of water ratios with my duke 3 manchurian but no luck.
Im going to order a full tub of salty sea sage as that was my favourite smell because I was really looking forward to using meissner tremonia products after all these great reviews.
.
I have three pastes that lather great but the scent is"meh" at best. The Elemi is the best of the three.
I actually find the smells quite subtle, very nice, but subtle. After all the reviews I was expecting something a lot stronger.
I'm in for Moroccan Rhassoul, Himalayan Heights, and Exotic Elemi...from the great initial review to all the support for this soap, always worth a try.
The shaving & body butter, is stated to have a variety of uses, (for shaving, post shave skin care and general skin softening-smoothing-moisturizing). I've only used as a post shave balm and work the rest into my hands and will say it's a good product for skin softening, smoothing moisturizing protection but, if your looking for something soothing post shave, you're not going to get that. Though I might purchase this again for general skin care, I would also choose the unscented (I believe they call it purist or something similar). I chose the Cedar-Cade Wood and frankly, don't like the scent...it's perhaps peaty at best...at first it reminded me of a campfire you dowsed out with water...perhaps not an accurate description but something close to it. I even asked a lady friend her opinion and it wasn't favorable.
Again, as a skin butter, great...shave balm...not what I was looking for & I will say that I am fond of the shave soap and scents...I'm not sure you can do better in that category.
hello gentleman,
A little birdie told me that there may be an ice menthol surprise under the tree this year. I had a couple of questions for the users here. Firstly, as a face latherer, can you load the paste directly in the glas bowl then go to the face for lathering? Is it a hard enough cream for that?
Secondly, how are people using the preshave soap? I am used to the preshave proraso cream which rubs into the face. Is the preshave soap designed to be used in the shower beforehand and washed off? Or applied to the face and then lathered on top of?
Right. We are moving to Munich. Which is 700m away from where we are now. A really good friend of mine just lost her husband, and her son is 14. So I was tasked with teaching him how to shave.
And I did.
I had run out of Castle Forbes, so I went for Meißner Tremonia paste, and the rest of the line.
The pre shave soap is meant to be used as a soap. Wash, rinse, done.
I don't think face lathering from creams is a good idea. You can lather in your hand. The trick is to get the consistency right. Totally irrespective of the product. Face lathering works best with soaps.
Oh I don't know about that. I have several creams and they face lather just fine. The trick is initially selecting the correctly sized dollop of product and have a proper wetted brush (those two parameters will change with each cream). Then you just work it out on your face.
Yup, never had a problem face lathering a shave cream either. Started off in the late 1960s with a boar brush and shaving cream in a tube. Amazing what you can do when you don't know any better. Ignorance is indeed bliss in some cases.

Finally ordered some soap. I went with Natural bay rum. Any use this scent before?
I have used Natural bay rum 2 times now and I love it. I am not sure you will find a better soap for anywhere close to this price. I really like the glass jar it comes in as well.
Here is a very nice (German language, Google Translate link here) interview with Thomas Meißner of Meißner Tremonia: Renaissance of the soap art. Enjoy.
Has it really been 4 years since this stuff came out!?
I tried 4 samples when Meißner Tremonia first came out and was miffed when I couldn't get them to lather for love nor money. I always felt a bit left out as others sung its praises. Whether it was some of the first batches I don't know but I can now sing its praises too.
I brought a tub of Moroccan Rhassol last week and love it!
Scent wise it's all cloves with a hint of spice, perfect for the autumnal weather. The lather takes some working but is very slick and has a consistency of yogurt, it doesn't have that thick dense lather like the big name English creams have but I dare say that's because its au natural. Being natural it leaves my face feeling wonderful after the shave too.
I'm so glad I gave Meißner another chance, I will definitely try some other flavors as well. :tu
When it first came out the first batches were defective. One of the ingredients was either bad or off or something was amiss. He actually took back whatever folks returned to him. I had some of those and they flat out would not lather.
However since then they have all been top notch. It's my favorite soap. technically there is none better. The scents are very different more adult rather than the overpowering stuff most make.
