I have a face cream/soap drying issue going on. I add and add water directly to my face to break up the drying cream/soap, the lather is a nice thick and slick lather then drys immediately.
I read that glycerin attracts water, so wondered if I add some drops of glycerin to the lather would that help?
With the exception of a few really good quality soaps, I add a drop of glycerin as it helps to combat hard water in my area. The ones that don't need it are Martin de Candre, Santa Maria Novella and Petersons - everything else including things like MWF are helped by just a drop - maybe less than a quarter spoon ful. I add it to a lathering bowl before loading my brush and then add water as required.
I do, but I really don't know that it makes much difference. But like UKRob says, it may have more benefit in a hard water area. It's cheap, available at CVS and the like for a few bucks, so no harm. Although I think you need to not use more than 2 or 3 drops or it may mess with your lather.

Also I have been adding 2 drops per oz to all my Aftershaves for the last 7-8 years seems to help with conditioning the face :shrug:

What temp water do you use? If too hot evaporation could be contributing. Possibly worth trying building a lather using only cold water see if you still have the same problem. Another thing to consider trying is using bottled water. Bottled water shouldn't be hard. It might not be cost effective as a long term solution but worth a try to see if you can establish what the issue is.
Prime ingredient of uber lather. Yes. I use gliss, a dollup of cream and soap loaded brush. All sorts of combinations, but I always add the gliss.
I add the Glycerin when I buy a new puck of glycerin soap. I melt it and the puck into a mug for use.
A really dry period like winter most my soaps get a bit every morning; hardish water and really dry air!
