HERE is a thread that may give you a few more ideas.
Everybody has different tastes for this stuff. You can get ideas from others, but like most things you will have to try them for yourself.

Beautiful thanks for the link that will help a lot!
I would go to SRD and see what they carry and go with it. The selections are great.
Dr. Jon's is one of the best american made artisan soaps I have tried so far
I think Barrister and Mann and Tiki Bar Soap are worth trying, they offer samples.
Saponificio Varesino is fairly new on the market, it is IMO similar to MDC in performance but cheaper.
I love hearing that I ordered at least one really good soap...according to the comments here at least Dr. John had some interesting scents is what caught my attention first!
IMO, there's a bunch of great Artisan soaps on the market right now. I've tried a lot of them, and have found very few that were disappointing. Like mainaman said, try some samples, especially the artisan soaps......
Did I say artisan soaps you should try... :)

I am still a newbie to this for the most part but in the last several months of reading here and taking advice and attending a local meet and spending time with folks that have been doing this probably longer than I have been alive has greatly helped. I watched countless videos of Lynn and Glen doing honing and then at a local meet watched for I know 1-2 hours straight those knowledgable honing away for other people. I then decided to jump in and do my own. I still refresh my memory with Lynn's videos on YT from time to time. Just alot of information to retain. But I have gotten fairly decent with my touch in regards to honing. But like anything with this you will find what works for you and it will be so enjoyable.
Ohh yah I have watched a lot of the videos some multiple times lol
Well, if opinions are all you want then I'll say for a mid price point Tabac and Valobra Patchouli are a good bet and higher up the price scale Castle Forbes and Panama Boellis 1924 are worth a go.
Bob
Ill have to try castle forbes It seems to have good reviews from everyone many my next buy
