Of course I could switch to creams, but I won't. I know myself well.
So when I go to, for example, TOBS website, they sell 4 or 5 different shaving soaps, but about 17 or 18 different shaving creams.
Bummer! I want some rose or grapefruit soap! But, no. That privilege only goes to the "cream guys" who apparently enjoy a rare status
I can never hope to achieve.
Oh well, they can't get me off soaps, so I'll just be happy with my Jermyn Street and sandalwood.
But how do you feel about croaps? Those products that exist between a soap and a cream, like the wonderful MDC and many others?:shrug:

I'm sorry but I'm having trouble understanding eliminating an entire class of "lather products" for want of a better phrase.
I was recently in a meeting in my "Food World" and stated that we should exchange the term "Joy" for the term "Fat" in products.
So that would be "Joy Free" (insert name of product here)
Or "Now with 50% less Joy"
Or "Reduced Joy"
Fat means flavor in the food world...
The shaving spectrum offers so much Joy, for just a few pennies a day, why set limits?
But in the end, it is YMMV, and we wish you all the very best in your quest...
That MdC is delightful BTW, and it's pretty firm once you leave the cover off as recommended...

Never did bother me if I used a soap, croap or cream so long as it did the job for me.

I used to feel good old soap was the classic way and never considered creams. Over time I changed and these days I use whatever I like.

When I first started my wet shave adventure I began with creams, then it somehow it became soft soaps or croaps as was said. I'm in a soap phase at the moment and enjoying that. You know come to think of it, I don't think I met a shaving lather product that I truly didn't like or didn't have at least some redeeming value. I guess forums work hehe. I have miles to go before I can try them all don't think I would live long enough.
I feel the other way around... I am jealous of the many types of soaps out there. Seems all the small artisans do soaps and not creams.
As a cream guy, that leaves me out in the cold! (though I will still buy the occasional soap)

I've tried soaps and creams of all different prices, KY jelly, oil and just water and (apart from water only, which takes more care when shaving to prevent dig-ins) I honestly couldn't say any of them makes much of a difference to me. What am I missing?
