I just bought Baum.be and I love this cream. I usually take a long time to shave and notice that the lather becomes dry rather quickly on my face. I attempted to add more water in my bowl and it seemed like I was adding too much water. When I add the additional water its almost as if the soap absorbs the water and disappears. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!
You gotta experiment.
More product, less water. Make sure to splash your face with water very well at least a minute before starting to apply lather or build it on your face.
Drier lather at the beginning of lathering and touch just the tips of the brush in water to gradually hydrate the product (soap or cream) until you get the product to water ratio that works best. I would start with a drier brush, at least two or three shake outs of water. But, if you're using boar hair, make sure to soak the hairs fully submerged in water (minimum 1 minute, two to three are better) before you start making any lather otherwise the hairs can absorb much of the water and product away.
It's easier to add water than to take it away. ....as your technique improves, you'll finish passes faster with less chance of the lather drying out on your face.

You have to experiment with the soap and water mix. All soaps are different and require more soap and less water or visa versa. It also depends if you like a thicker or wetter lather. A wetter lather works best with the straight razor. I find a lot of my soaps are very thirsty. I will add what seems to be way too much water and watch the soap do virtually nothing, then watch it virtually explode into lather in the bowl.
As far as drying out, I'm a slow shaver too. I like to take my time and enjoy the shave. You could try lathering half of your face at a time. That's pretty much what I always do. It virtually eliminated the problem of lather drying out for me.

This is common so don't worry too much. Especially during the winter months when humidity is low or you may live in a desert environment your lather is going to dry up rather quickly. Simply just lather your face and as you shave and refresh the areas that may be starting to dry and then shave. Shave your face in sections and refresh the lather before doing that pass. lather for straight razor shaving I find is better on the wetter side rather than that perfect whip cream consistency. Whisker hydration is key to a comfy shave so don't try to shave over dried lather, it wont be a good experience. Good luck.
Any time I have a lather that's drying out(not often), it's gonna get another round of makin' out with the soap. However much soap you are loading your brush with, double it. See what happens.
Use more water. What I have hard baume soap needs more water.. the crème need less water.
Generally, you will need more water, less water or no additional water.
