I initially bloomed the virgin puck over night with cold water. Subsequent latherings were with no blooming and using cold water. Yes the puck surface looks like a dried lake bed but it did not seem to matter. So don't give up on MWF because when you do finally get it right you will be well rewarded.

It's a totally great soap, once it clicks, for me at least, quickly became apparent why this soap has and deserves the reputation it gets. That lanolin truly leaves the face hydrated, not dried out as most soaps will do. Glad the dots connected for you Bob, for me, like MdC or Osma, MWF could be a, "one and only" soap for me.

I tried a puck of MWF a year or so ago. I had a lot of difficulty lathering the soap because my water was very hard. It took me several days to figure out how to get a decent lather. Once lathered, I found the performance of the lather to be quite good. However, do to the difficulty of lathering the soap, I sent it to a friend who uses MFW every day.

Last week, I had a new, larger capacity water softener installed. My water now is very soft. I will have to go back and revisit some of the triple milled tallow soaps that I had difficulty lathering in hard water.

I’m using MWF this week on the road from Houston to Ontario and back. It’s always performed well for me and I too like it. I’ve always heeded the advice when lathering, beat it like you hate it.

A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

Yea, it dries and cracks. Put a little hot water in the tub or cup, let it set overnight and its fine. If you have hard water use bottled water to make lather, a stiffer brush helps.

I like the soap, but never a fan of the sent.

I have rediscovered MWF lately, and since my old (nearly gone) puck has almost no scent anymore, I have been getting some of my best-ever lathers by uber-lathering it with real scent bombs like Noble Otter and Wholly Kaw (both top tier soaps in their own right). You get the best of both worlds.

I read this because I was intrigued by the wool fat name (never heard of it before) and decided to get some since I was buying a new brush anyway. I tried it and I hate to admit it because as paradoxical as it sounds I have this inafinity for over grooming and primping but I think I have found a product that I really love. Hell, I'm ready to smoke that stuff.

Ordered a puck of Mitchell's and a Semogue (spelling?) 1800 brush. Hope I like the combo.

MWF puck after 3hrs (+/-) in a tin foil bread loaf pan of water, set in a portable "stove" that looks like an old lunchbox and heats to 350F from a 12 volt plug.
