For a workhorse, I'll go with Mitchell's Wool Fat.
Has a nice light classic scent.
Never had any problems lathering.
The biggie...a puck lasts forever!
I have also never met a Proraso cream I didn't like.

For me, tabac is higher than workhorse status due to its difficulty to find locally.
Love it as well, but a workhorse, to me, needs to be available cheaply, at a stones throw from my house..
:tu
I think you must be spoiled Mike. Ivory bar soap is the only thing available at a stones throw from my house. All the shave soaps have to be ordered and takes at least seven days to get here, more typically it is twelve to fourteen days.
There is no doubt I am spoiled, according to my bride Shaun. Hehe. Think she even has a list of reasons why....
But having a shoppers drug mart around the corner is handy..
You on the other hand, have salmon and sea close at hand, everything else is pretty much mail order I’d imagine.
You nailed it. Typically the hunting and fishing here is incredible.
There are reasons why people have been here since Raven opened the clam shell.
I used Old Spice for nearly 50 years, so I guess it was my work horse. Currently I'd have to go with Tabac.
I broke out the Arko today. Now i dont know why i havent used it more often!
You ask, I answer, Tom...quite a turnaround :rofl2:, but here you go to Amazon of all places:

Sorry to be late to this party, but if I had to pick one, it would be Arko; 2d choice would be MWF, third would be the Palmolive stick. Since I got a bowl with the nubs in it, I love rubbing the sticks in there, essentially "loading the bowl" then starting in the brush work.

If I have 3 or 4 days growth, I rub the stick on my face and get the same process working in a face lather!
As an aside, I also love the green Proraso soap...it'd be in my top 4 workhorses.
