Scents, Cents, and Sense-Lets have a contest

A lot of talk about Vetiver as a scent and I know this is the soaps forum not the A/S but I thought it would be fun to have a contest in general about Scents.

So here is the deal. On Saturday, this Saturday at noon Eastern Time I will put a story in this thread. The story will contain numbers of cents and scents. Your task is to read the story and provide the number which is greatest. Will it be cents or scents. It will make more sense when you read the story. I will close the contest at 6 PM Eastern Time and everyone who has the correct answer will be put into a "hat" and I'll select the winner. I'll announce it sometime on Sunday.

The winner will get one factory fresh 8 oz bottle of Royall Vetiver After Shave Lotion. This will be open to all members who live in the U.S and Canada. Of course all staff is excluded but mentors can play.

This is the real deal NO April's fool jokes.

So, read the story and figure out how many scents there are and how many cents there are. It’s that easy. But let me warn you there’s a dirty trick buried in the story. Only the smartest percent of you will figure it out.


So last week my Husky woke me up sniffing around me and she told me there was a peculiar scent. I said that’s not me it’s coming from down the block. She said I wouldn’t give you ten cents for it.

So I got dressed, shaved and put on some Bay Rum Scent and went over to the 7% scent store (it’s called that cause after his divorce his missus would only let him keep 7% of the mdse, what a dirty trick eh?) and Jack the owner said you got a strange scent about you. He said I wouldn’t give you 25 cents for that scent. I said that’s good smelling stuff. He said you better stay off the bus today cause they don’t like that scent even if you put 100 cents in the fare box.

Well I didn’t take his advice and after putting my 100 cents in the box I sat down and those folks started complaining about my scent. The driver pulled over and kicked me off the bus.

So I happened to stop in at the shave supply store and was greeted by a multitude of scents. It was probably a combination of at least 50 scents. The owner said I know you and I don’t accept no cents, dollar bills only. I said hey it be American Money good anywhere. So what if I want to pay for me scents with cents. I must have 10,000 cents with me. He kicked me out of the store.

So I headed over to my squeeze and she said you owe me 500 bucks but when I said no problem and tried to pay with 50,000 cents she said no deal and to tell you the truth you stink like you be wearing 1001 different scents all at once. I said you ain’t got no sense and left. So I decided to go to catch a game at Yankee Stadium and after paying 4,000 cents for the ducats well, I guess there were 20,000 folks there with 40,000 different scents. I wanted one of those famous Hot Dogs but they cost 1,000 cents and I was running short of cents.

So after the game I stopped at the bank to get some more cents. The teller said how many you want? I said I want 40,000 cents. She said you smell like you got 50,000 scents on you.

So I headed home and my Husky said, you still stink like you got 1001 cents on you. I said well,…you stink too. She said no I don’t and you got no sense at all. Hey I got plenty of cents, 40,000 of them. She said you mean 40,000 scents ? No, I mean 40,000 cents.

I came up with the greatest being Cents at 186,239 and scents at 131,059. But im not too good at these games so dont go by my numbers. Lol. Good luck all!

I think it depends on how you read the story...?:shrug: I came up with more scents at 91,054. I'm going back out to the shop now-I've got 3 razors in various stages of being close to done. I'm on a vetiver binge lately, so I'd like to win this!

Everyone is wrong. Do you really think it would just be an easy matter of adding up the numbers? Remember I warned you there was a dirty trick. So you saw the 7% store and the guys ex's dirty trick leaving him with 7% of his inventory. That was your hint. The true answer should have been 7% of what you all thought to be the answer.

No matter, I'm not Simon Legree. Everyone who entered will be eligible. I'll pick the winner tomorrow so check back Sunday Afternoon.

Oh well....I thought the dirty trick was scents vs scent. Too clever by half.
