    Default Gentlemens Quarter

I ordered 4 - 1oz samples from Colleen. Shipping was smooth and didn't take long. She tossed in a few other 1/2oz samples with my order including a sample of bath soap. A nice touch even though all I ordered was samples to start with. Not full pucks. When I opened the package a nice Scent came out. A mix of what I would call Gentlemanly scents. Not strong perfumey smells. That made me feel like she was on the right track in scents.

I have good water so I had no real issues making a lather. I used a shave bowl and about an Almond sized amount of the Bayrum/sweet orange. A nice combination in my opinion. I feel the orange was stronger than the bay rum, but both were noticeable. Reminded me of a Blood Orange scent, JMO. When making lather in my bowl I found it not as easy as making lather with some of my Top Tier soaps but adding a little more water I had a nice creamy lather. Next test was to put it on my face and let it sit to see how fast it disappeared/faded away. I hate this in a lather. What I found was it did dissipate some, but very slowly. I'd say it would stick around long enough for a full pass shave without drying out and vanishing too quickly. A plus in my book!
The lather was not as dense as my top tier but it was a nice creamy lather that passed the test so far. I didn't have to add a lot of water so it is not a thirsty soap, but I had a nice rich creamy lather. I can see if someone got carried away adding water too quickly they may end up with suddsy lather, breaking it down too much.
Shaving I found nothing to complain about. I thought that it was lacking in the conditioning of the skin at first, but after the shave, my face felt nice. Not oily or too much of any one thing. Not pinched or dry. Maybe it could use a little more buttery ingredients but very little more. I wouldn't want it to be much more in the conditioning ability. Again, JMO.

I'm not big on Scent but I felt it was a nice Scent. Manly and not too weak. Personally, I would like a little stronger scent, but that's just my opinion. It was not extremely hard to smell or a very light scent in any way. Again, After my shave, I was pleasantly surprised at how my face felt. I really wasn't expecting how it felt as the lather didn't give me any hints of conditioning, but it was there. But as I said, not extreme. I still think it could use a little more but not much.

So, that's my opinion. Will it make it to my top tier? Maybe. I will have to test it a few more times to be sure. But IMO, I'd say it is a soap that is above many others in quality. And the scent was pleasant. Not soapy!

Thanks to Colleen for making a good shave soap that was more than just scent OR skin conditioning.

Just got my box yesterday Jerry, and you are spot on with the scents. Opening the box was an olfactory Ogasm!!

I'm very looking forward to this mornings shave, think I'm going with the Moss & Oak. I also have the Highlander which to me smells AMAZING!!!!

And Colleen tossed a few samples in as well as some bath soap of the Highlander. We had talked in PM's and I mentioned how the description made me really want to ty that one.

Didn't mean to Highjack your thread my friend

Dieseld, I think you'll like the Moss & Oak. I gave it a first trial last evening and was very pleased with the outcome. Nice scent without being overpowering, just the way I like it. I was able to get a nice face lather without much effort using a small badger brush.

Last night I tried the Cavendish Black. Again a nice manly scent. I still have 2 more to try but the scents are really nice. I don't like a soapy smell.
Your not highjacking Dave. Glad you have enjoyed them too. Glad to hear it.

Just tried the savon and champagne. Smelled more like 7up to me. Still, a nice different type scent for a shave soap.
Its my weekend and clean washed clothes. So i dont smell of gas, yet!

Well, tha Moss & Oak was a real treat to shave with. Very nice aroma, thick lather and good glide. My face felt very nice after the shave, and as Jerry mentioned in his post.

Way to go Colleen looking forward to trying the rest of the soaps I got as well
