If you were to stop buying any more shave soaps, creams, crops, samples, when do you think you might actually run out of soap?
I will say 2022 as my soap collection hasnt gotten too out of control yet.
How about you?

At the rate I've been shaving, ( 2-3 times per week )2023
I figure I consume soap at about 5 tubs per year. I have enough soaps to last 30 years. That will make me nearly 100 years old. Thus, my goal is to outlive my soaps.
Unfortunately, many of my soaps will spoil before I ever use them up.
I just won a puck of CBL Tonsorial in a PIF that , assuming I like it, along with my other soaps will take me well into 2021. Plenty of soap. I'm guessing about 20 months.
I guess in some 30-40 years...
I think I have enought for about 10 years.
Maybe I should add a few more circles at load time. 4.5 to 5 oz puck or jar lasts a year for me (shaving 3 times a week). I have one in the shave drawer, a travel tin of Frankenstein blend, and the next 4 stashed away, so I'm good till 2025.
I’m guessing I have enough to last me another 5 years, but I know I will still buy more.
I guess an indefinite time. (I don't know) but 40 or so soaps and there's 2 shavers here? Maybe 12 to 15 years. I do have a vintage old spice soap that is +/- 40 years old. Still good. Still smells good too. I never had a soap go bad yet but you can never say never.
Time? I don't know however I told the Grim Reaper he can have them all and he said he'll never finish them.
10 - 15 years worth of my only soap. However, I know I'll have to buy some more just in case she stops making soap, which I, selfishly, hope doesn't happen for quite a few years. :)
I just did a quick count, and I have eight soaps/creams. On average, I have used over half of each and any full-sized product would last me roughly one year. In total, that's probably 3-4 years with two to three shaves a week.
These are all high quality products and I would happily use each one exclusively, if I wouldn't enjoy a bit of variation now and then. Hell, the last eight months I've been using the Alvarez Gómez "Barberia" line pretty much exclusively, but that was only because my Castle Forbes ran out. Good times.
Best regards,
Pieter
Have 6 jars MDC So that’s 6+ years and a couple years f standbys. Half jar Tabac. Half jar of Mitchell’s wool fat. And a jar of castle Forbes now. Got rid of most of the impulse buys so if MDC quits sending me sales I got enough for 7 years. MDC the only one that last over a year with daily shaving
I'm slowly paring down my last order of samples, and occasionally using others depending on mood. I've probably got at least 5 years' worth. Funny, I was just now looking on Maggard's and West Coast Shaving at all the newer stuff I want to try. Lots of Noble Otters I still want to try, some Wholly Kaws, and I have yet to get any from Oleo (though I keep looking at that huge sample pack!). On top of that, it seems new artisan companies are coming up and getting great reviews all the time.
I will probably pull the trigger on a crazy-big order of samples here near Christmas; plus, I plan to reload on MWF and Tabac, and I'll always keep a few cheap menthol creams like Godrej around. Screw it-if I don't use them all, I enjoy giving to new straight users and friends. Whoever dies with the most shaving soaps wins!
Another thing that's helping me clear the decks for new samples in my various shaving mugs is to take the remnants I'm always creating and mashing them together to make bath soap bars. My working class mountain thrift won't let me throw anything viable away. And artisan shave soaps make great, skin-nourishing bath soaps, even if you don't know which 5 or 6 are smushed together lol!
Gentlemen,
I plan on my shave soaps and creams to carry me into the next century, especially Martin Candre and Castle Forbes.
I definitely have enough for 10 years.
Probably need to stop :)
I apologize for the late reply, Gabriel, but, yes, that is correct. I use Mystic Water, exclusively. I can't imagine you would be surprised with this answer. :)
I still greatly enjoy trying new soaps, but I have found that any new soap that is released is not much better than the one I use. Therefore, I don't see the need to keep trying them as I find most soaps to be quite expensive, nowadays. For the price, this soap has everything I look for and I am extremely satisfied. Realistically, there are so many wonderful soaps available, right now, that we are so very fortunate to have at our disposal.
I only shave with MdC, C.F. and Tabac.
There are 15 other partially used soaps that I use as prelathers.
Just ordered 2 CF 1445 and will order 2 MdC today. There are 10 Tabac pucks in the cabinet.
I would guess I can go about 5 years.
I just ordered 6 pucks of Sterling to play with different scents. At 80+ bucks its hard to beat. Now if i can get the wife to buy the MDC for Christmas i will be set for two more years, so 2024 - 25.
I have been transferring many of the older ones to the shower as of late..
My new rule, if I can't identify the soap and the scent they head to the shower :p
ps: High-quality products I have no problem identifying hmmmmm
I know there are shaving fanatics out there who buy, trade and raffle off soaps and thereby get to try many different soaps in a short time. I’ve found a handful that I really like and can’t see the point of getting even more.
For me, performance is important and since my nose doesn’t work that well, scent isn’t. My go to soaps are Baume.be, MdC, PannaCrema, TOBS Sandalwood and Cyril Salter Sandalwood. I have others in the drawer that I try occasionally and a TABAC stick for travel.
If 4oz or so is considered a full jar/puck i would estimate 30yrs worth.. Oops plus 2 more that i will be receiving courtesy of Jerry.. But as Glen has stated i have a half dozen cheaper pucks that i just dont use anymore that will be headed to the shower..
At my current rate, I'd say 5-10 years. I'm still on my original MDC placed several years back.
My standard rotation includes: MDC, CF, Baume and a few artisan soaps such as: WhK, WSP and Sterling.
