Tried a Cool New Routine with Brushless Shave Cream!!

I stumbled over this large plastic container of Clubman Pinaud Classic Barber Shave Cream I'd purchased a couple of years ago when they also released a few other products.

When I first tried this stuff, I was immensely let down, as it wouldn't produce any lather AT ALL! :-)

Lo and behold I discovered through a conversation with Val of the Gentleman's Den, that this was in fact a BRUSHLESS SHAVE CREAM!!!!!:rofl2:

So I grabbed it about a week ago - broke out an old Schick Adjustable Injector and gave it a whirl, expecting it to be disastrous and result in a terrible shave.

How wrong I was - it was an excellent shave, close, the Clubman Pinaud Barber's Cream left my skin uber soft afterwards, beautiful Clubman aroma, and it was an absolute BBS Shave.

Needless to say, would it stand as well with a straight razor? Absolutely, equally as nice with either.

Just what I need, a fatal dose of a variant of SAD - the brushless, non-lathering type of shaving soaps to now pursue.

Sounds interesting. I did some looking and it's pretty reasonably priced so I ordered a jar. I just hope it smell like my Pinaud Clubman Aftershave.

Wow - guy sure lathered up - don't think I used that much product in 3 shaves, this stuff is little dab will do ya.....but looks like we both had the same reaction - stuff is amazing - really close shave, loved the guys laugh, should've used this ages ago - and the price is really, really hard to beat, enough to last a long, long time.

Sleekness and glide - yup, if there were two words to describe this soap - these would be it...he hits the nail on the head.

I tend to 'Think Outside the Box' and was wondering if a small sponge could be cut to fit under the lid, kept moist and used to move the cream from the jar to the face where then a person's hands could 'work it in'. Just thinking that perhaps this would save on product.

I'm not 'Cheap'---But I am Frugal--------------

Since you've used it a bit-----Any thoughts? :shrug:

Watched the video again and think I might be seeing the product mix with his beard, same salt and pepper like me, and it probably looked like he was using a lot more than he actually did. So I retract my earlier comment.

Still laughing at his response and the end...while he laughs and say's he's speechless, should've used it a long time ago...I agree.

If you just feel like a quick shave, with a superb result, you can't go wrong with this product, really leaves the face like you already applied some moisturizing cream after you've had your shave.

For the price, can't go wrong and something fun to try.

Already came in handy once for me, forgot I had an appointment, ripped off a nice shave with this stuff in the time it takes to apply and do an full WTG pass and a ATG pass on the neck.

Its actually a croap, lathers easy, holds tons of water, slick as snot on a glass doorknob, and smells good, in Pinaud's way.

Looked at the cream, but had a bad experience with another brand, sometime back, and didn't want to throw another tub in the trash. So!....I'll see what others think about it.

Seems I remember a few guys here, bought some when it first came out. Nobody seemed to like it, from what I remember. Hmmm.!

I was one of them, hated it, until I realized I was doing it wrong.

The video Cuda posted is all you need to do, apply and shave - then done.

I loaded a brush with the stuff, did my normal routine in the scuttle, stuff was a disaster and gunked my brush up - now I know why....hahaha!

Yep. did the same thing to one of my brushes. Then read the directions. Can't remember what the product was called, but I would have done better with a shot of hand cream.

Cremo, wasn't bad. Real slippery.!! Made it hard to hold a straight, and feel comfortable. Works great in a uber lather, though.

No big rush, the drug store down the street carries it, and other clubman products.

OK, I've tried this 'Clubman Classic Barber Shave Cream'---Twice--

First and foremost, I think that calling it a 'Cream' is a bit of a stretch as when I opened it I was holding it at about a 45-60 degree angle and when I removed the lid the contents started flowing out :hmmm: so I quickly righted the jar. NOTE: I was expecting a consistency more like 'Cold Cream'.

I retrieved the lost product and put it in a bowl to be used when I shaved.

I only had about a two day growth of beard but I washed my face with some shampoo then rinsed thoroughly then applied the saved product to my wet face. It spread easily but as has been said/and seen it doesn't really make any lather.

The shave went well but I wasn't impressed with the 'slickness' however the feeling of the face afterward was quite nice.

I waited until I had a 5 day growth for the next test. Pretty much the same---BUT--whether it was due to having used once already or something else I got a nice two pass shave. I seemed to feel the slickness better this round. However keeping track of where you have shaved and haven't is a bit of a challenge.

I do plan on trying it as a 'Pre Shave' with perhaps the Mitchel's Wool Fat Soap which I haven't unlocked the secret of.

I hope that this is of some help for those considering this product.

This stuff just sounds weird to me.
Shaving without a real nice lather.....

I guess it probably works real well for some and I understand that but,
I've got too much tied up in brushes, bowls, scuttles etc.,not it mention shave soap, for it to raise very much interest.

I love Pinaud Clubman products. I would love to try the shave soap that Mike mentioned.
In fact I'll put it on the list after what he said about it.
