I feel like the Lone Ranger. I can't remember when the last time was that anyone (other than yours-truly) posted an SOTD entry that listed either a QED or TGQ shaving soap among the other components. So, I've created this poll to see if anyone is (still) using one or both product lines.
Wish I knew what the acronym meant
I have to say that I've tried a lot of artisanal soaps, and liked a lot of them. However after years of trials, and still using some - until hey finished - I think I finally understood that for me personally the scent is secondary to that luxurious creamy feeling I can steadily get from triple-milled tallow based classics. So in the future I'll probably only buy DRH and MWF.

Although I do know of those two soaps, I do not use artisan soaps after trying a few. I get the results I want from inexpensive soaps and creams from old line companies. The few artisan soaps I have will get used up and not replaced.

I do have and use The Gentleman’s Quarter soaps. I think I have three. I quite like them.

My first purchase of QEDman was in 2005, the last in 2011. I still have — and regularly use — the ten tubs of shaving soap and the four shaving sticks that I was wise enough to acquire. Two tubs — Wild Rose and Violetta — were from group-buys on B&B, another — Jasmine — was a custom, one-off, product for a B&B member who subsequently sold it to me; the rest were "standard" creations. The QEDman product line of shaving soaps/sticks was extensive; interestingly, more than a few offerings in one were not/never made available in the other (and vice versa) — for example, Mocha Java was shave-stick only, and American Gent only came in tub-size — thankfully, most were duplicated in both formats.
QEDman shaving soaps/sticks were EO-only, and glycerin-based. To this day, their aroma remains strong and they lather "like a champ."
I use Artisan Soaps, WSP, Stirling, Rocky Mountaineer, Henri et Victoria.
I tend to go for the scents, if I like the smell i don't mind working harder to get the lather I want although the ones i mentioned all lather well, Stirling is quite thirsty but I have plenty of water.
I miss the QED scents soooo much. I had the Wild Rose and Violetta too. Both outstanding. And the vetiver. And and and... soooo many good scents.Quote:

If the purpose of this forum, or indeed the purpose of language, is to communicate, it would be gentlemanly to only use those abbreviations that everybody understands.
Alternatively, one might use the first time in a text the full word followed by the abbreviation in brackets. That’s an accepted standard when writing technical texts and ensures no one is ‘lost in translation’.
Otherwise, one might think the author is trying to impress people with his ostensible insider knowledge of abbreviations, when in truth it is thoughtlessness at best and lack of civility at worst.

TGQ waz great for scents but the quality of the soap was lacking IMO. It would fade away/vanish as fast as some of the cheap soaps Ive tried.
I do enjoy artisan soaps.

That is artisan soaps in the sense of home-made, small scale products, but the ‘artisan’ definition is vague, some soaps made in small batches are made to order by third party established commercial manufacturers, and then again someone might call Mitchell’s ‘artisan’ (see below and decide :hmmm: ) when even Saponificio Varesino S.r.l. (Ltd.) call their product ‘Men’s Artisan Shaving Soap’.

In this instance, "QED" is not an abbreviation. It is the short-form of the shaving product-line/emporium: QEDman and QEDusa, respectively. You might be confusing it with the Latin, Quod Erat Demonstrandum -- "[that] which was to be demonstrated". I cannot speak for Charles, the founder/owner/operator of QEDusa, but I would guess it's a mild self-indulgence on his part; and, TBH (To Be Honest), people here on SRP (Sharp Razor Palace, formerly Straight Razor Place), B&B (Badger & Blade), and other wetshaving forums know that to be true: QED shaving soaps do demonstrate how good a shaving soap can be.Quote:
