Update: I have come to the opinion that Proraso is simply meh. I have relegated it to the do not buy again list. I have reached the conclusion that Cella Red is one of the best soaps out there, even running with the big dogs. It is the only soap for which I keep backups. It is a truly superior performer. I just used Cella Red last night with my straight razor, in fact, and had a glorious, creamy shave. Last year, my wife was running out of soap and I gave her a tub of Cella Red. She loved it immediately and talked about how creamy and smooth it was.
I concur, even though I know that many shavers around here love Proraso in any shape, form or fashion dearly, none of whom I wish to offend.
Proraso is easily available, reasonable priced and works reasonably well, but an outstanding shaving soap it is not.
Over the years I have come to use many other products that I consider superior, but then again where I live I have easy access to many shaving products that may not so easily available elsewhere.
Besides availability, some shavers may reach Proraso in their search for a good product, find it superior to what they have used until then and stick with it.
That’s all fine; some like Malt, some like Scotch blends, some like Bourbon and some reach for vodka where price does not matter quite as much.
To use above analogy, for me the skill lies in finding a nice Malt :beer1: (no colouring, not chill filtered, 46% ABV or above) that does not break the bank.
I apply thge same principle to shaving soaps.
And Proraso is for me the Johnny Walker Red of shaving soaps. :nj

More like Cutty Sark.
Is anyone stocking up ahead of tarrifs? (Please no politics). I’m just frugal.
No need (for me).
Living on the international side of the fence, I shall avoid US products until this irresponsible madness abates. :gth Truth be told, I can’t think of any US products that I would miss terribly.
I hope there will be a time soon where we all look back on this and can agree over a beer :beer1: that this was all so unhelpful and unnecessary.
