L'Occitane Cade shaving cream won't foam ??

Last week I was tempted and bought this L'Occitane Cade shaving cream. http://uk.loccitane.com/FO/Catalog/P...usg_MensCorner
I was really curious about it's scent and how it would feel on my skin. Still a bit shocked by the price I got home and I immediately prepared all the needs to create a nice lather.
I took my stainless steel Ikea lather bowl as usual and put a quite large almond of Cade shaving cream and kept on stirring for about 2 minutes....3 minutes.....4 minutes but still no sings of an up coming lather.....?
I tried at least half a dozen of combinations, to see if the L'Occitane cream was reacting with any material, so I used different brushes (badger, bristle), bowls (stainless steel, glas), added a few drops of pure glycerin but still no lather.
Flat as a dead beer and that is exactly how it looked. Reading the packaging again promising me and I quote: This cream transforms itself into a luxurious mousse" I started scratching my head.
Maybe this Cade SC is not for use on Tuesdays so I tried the day after but no changes at all.
I tried a few of my other shaving creams like ToOBS Sandelwood, Arko Lime (very nice for its price), Trumpers Violet and they worked just fine.

Am I missing something here? Is there anyone with similar experiences or used this shaving cream successfully?

Anyhow no L'Occitaine for me anymore. And the scent? Nothing special.

No problem with mine. Need a bit more cream, but it works well.

I had the same experience with the cade cream, just doesnt lather well with a brush.
I believe it to be a brushless shave cream to be aplied with your fingers and rubbed into the beard. Great for not wet shavers that use mach 3s.
In the other hand....the cade shaving soap is one of the best in the world, just amazing.

I must say that I use the cream with a brush all the time. You do have to use more soap than usual though.

When I was in the store in Coconut Grove, Fl. They had a kit with a brush and a mach 3 but the woman there said it was brushless. They have soaps and she said the brush was for the soap. In anycase I was not impressed by the smell. If you complain I am sure they will refund your money or exchange it for the soap.

You would be better off going with the L'Occitane Cade shave soap.It is really top notch stuff and the stainless bowl it comes in is pretty classy.The shave cream is kind of a dud in my opinion,especially for the price they charge.The only way I could really get it to work with a brush was to use alot of it. I traded it away the first chance I got.

I think I should go back and ask the saleswomen to give me demo on how to make that luxurious lather.:hmmm: I'll have it changed for a soap or refunded.

She will do what the woman did when I asked that. She will rub some like a lotion on your hand. Now if she is cute then it might be worth it cause you can segway into other things.:w

Yes, L'Occitane CADE does need more cream and more work than usual. I usually use almond and half, soak the brush, shake out excess, then start mixing in a bowl. I mix until all extra water has gone and usually end up with little lather. However, I add another teaspoon of water to the bowl and continue whipping up for about 30 seconds. That's when you start seeing lather build. Keep adding a little extra water as necessary until you get lather.

I find the lather is usually slightly thinner, but on the other hand it keeps the moisture very well, smells amazing, and seems to give a decent shave.

However, what it does not do is give a lather with huge cushion, like Castle Forbes. If that's what you're expecting, then IMO you're likely to be disappointed.

I like it, particularly the scent. But to be honest I'm just using it up as quick as I can because I've sworn not to buy another tub of CF Lavender until I've used up some of my plethora of creams first! :(
