The shave sticks I've tried are like bars of soap in consistancy. Or a deoderant stick.
I was wondering, like in the initial question, if the old days had a drier form of soap stick. Remember that they had a lot of shave powder too. I know nothing about that. But I conjure up an image of a shave stick being the consistancy of a powder pressed into a stick.
Am I off base on this thought?
Arko sounds like what you're looking for. It has the old-timey scent and vibe, is tallow-based, and lathers easily.
+1 on valobra, i got mine at razorandbrush.com they carry a great selection of shavingsticks.
I think is good to have a couple for travelling and going to the gym.
The shave sticks from SCS are a new offering from Sue. I have yet to try one but if they are anything like her regular shave soaps (As I'm sure they are), then no worries. Pull the trigger! That Bay Rum w/ a Twist would go really nice with my EdT of the same fragrance!:hmmm:
I need to place a Summer order with her soon!
hello outthere
I have Palmolive and Erazmic shaving soap sticks. They are very cheap about 65 to 70 pence (Less than $1.50) The Erazmic smells gorgeous. I haven't tried them yet, I should, they are both very common here in the UK.
Just tried the Erazmic, gorgeous smell YMMD, fast lather, shave not too bad.
Great for travel.
You wet your face, rub stick against beard, then lather up on face with brush.
And it's made in the UK:nj "God save the Queen - and all that"!
