This is actually quite timely. After taking a break and using a rotation of my other soaps, I recently came back to my dish of Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood soap for the last couple of weeks. I was a little hestitant about it as I've been using Tabac, Castle Forbes and others for the last couple months (yes, I have quite a few soaps that if I cycle through my collection every week or so it does take a while to get back to the beginning). The verdict: I was very surprised at the quality lather produced, just as I remembered. For a hard soap it is very easy for me to make lather as well, which surprises me as I've used some much softer soaps lately that seem to take a lot more work to lather than the TOBS. Go figure.
So I am recommending this to anyone interested in English shaving soaps.
Is it the best soap in the world? Probably not, but it performs very well for me.
PS - Yes Seraphim, I know you will disagree with me about TOBS. But before the Williams comparisons come out again please remember that the lather I produce from it is made with my particular water, brush type, individual lathering technique, etc.
