i am looking to get something for my wife...

what are you favorite soaps or creams...which ones give the best moisturizing and razor burn resisting...

My girl likes the stuff with Shea Butter in it....

P.S. I know you were asking the ladies, but I'd figured I put my two cents in...

All I use is Mama Bear soap, no creams or anything else.

Hi, I did a whole thing on Soap Vs Cream, it was on the front page for a while. basically some people like the feedback they feel from using soaps. it's not as thick as cream and you can "feel" the shave better. I like both. Mama Bear is about the best soap out there IMO. Vintage Blades triple milled stuff is great. As far as Cream goes, Castle Forbes or Nancy Boy are both fantastic....Rich...

Not a lady, but here are some suggestions she may like

Institute Karite, and Pre de provence, or honeybee sue for Soaps

For creams TOBS avocado, TOBS rose, GFT coconut oil, or JM frasers original. Pre de provence green tea shaving cream is also good. Not much lather, but very slick, smells nice and skin feels great after the shave.

The only stuff I have and My wife likes them too is Van Der Hagen cake soap & Chad Stewart's cream (Absinthe & Almond scent). The VDH has Shea butter & aloe vera in it. Add a few drops of Glycerin and you get a nice Uber lather.

I'm sure Silver will pop her ha'porth in as soon as she sees this....

She likes the Mama Bears but I tried Mitchell's Wool Fat on her, last shave, & she really liked it. Very smooth & moisturising indeed. :D

+1 on the Mitchell's Wool Fat. I liked it so much, I bought the Bath Bars. They do make bars of soap as well as shave soap...

Woohoo I can actually answer somthing in the ladies corner :)

The wifey switched over to Überlather whenever possible, sometime back, her favorite is TOBS Lavender soap / Castle Forbes Lavender cream plus 5 drops of pure glycerin... says it makes her legs silky...

I would tend to agree :D

Yep I love Mama Bears for my legs.:D

As for other areas I am now a fan of the Millers wool fat, as Spike said. We've tried unscented as well as other brands (Trumpers, Crabtree & Evelyn) and they all irritate my skin within 5 minutes of lathering up!:( Not good when your main objective is trying to lie still.:w

I've never used cream, so I can't compare the two. I have wonderful results with just soap, and I'm not inclined to spend more money on stuff I don't need.

Yes, I have a Y chromosone but I think I have a winner here. mytimebathandbody.com This place does not even rate being a mom and pop shop. It is only a mom shop. I started using her shave creams and fell in love with the stuff. She sent me a sample of her bar soap and wow that stuff rocked my world too. I am a dude and could not tell the difference between good and bad soap until I tried this.

Just a little update to an old thread...

For Easter I got my wife a Long handles Merkur Classic, sharp blades, a Vulfix 2234 super badger brush, and TOBS Avocado and TOBS Almond.

She really likes all the new stuff...she now doesnt hate to shave quite as much...althought she doesnt enjoy it as much as I enjoy my Straight...
